Cockfighting would only increase tourism to Utah because there is thousands of cockfighters that would love to bring there birds to Utah if it was legal.

Cock fighting has been around for thousands of years and is not leaving anytime soon. Just let it be legal. The humane society is out for nothing but money.

Okay Glenn Moore. So you think you should be allowed to do anything you want to do because you are a human. You should be able to use animals for any purpose you see fit. Attitudes such as yours started to abate in the 17th century and thankfully have been enhanced since then. The "man has dominion over the animal" credo that you and some others in Utah adhere to is misplaced. Remember, nature is not a manmade creation and humans are the only species that would make the earth better if they were removed. Get with it Glenn. Can't live in the distant past forever.

My testimony in living on the North Shore of Hawaii, and watching first-hand, my ex-landlord's family demise due to their father's murder because of gamecock fight participation and gambling debts was a shame. Their story was NOT unique, either. Bodies were found in the sugar cane and pineapple fields on a regular basis, or a torched car with a body in it. I recall at least one of these cockfight-related reports on the news every few months, at least. Some bodies were completely decomposed being there for years, others were only a matter of months. I heard of the betting pots going up to $300k to, NOT being unusual. These events could go on in the wilderness for several days at a time, creating a 'burning man' sort of sub-culture. Along with gambling and drunkeness, I had heard rumors of double or nothing, putting up their family's home deeds, regularly amping the chickens up with injected amphetamines as well as the convenient customer base present for the larger distribution of such quantities, prostitution, extortion and, well, murder and death like I've already stated.
Please consider Utah's vulnerability Today. I am sure you will agree, no one wants our state's natural bounty to become a fearful place to explore and lower our robust tourism numbers. With your timely vote, we can be saved from this potential atrocity to both society and feathered friend.
