That we are jailing someone for using a safe and effective treament for the effects of a terminal illness is totally inhumane.

We can buy toxic recreation drugs (alcohol, caffine & nicotine) at the supermarket but can be arrested for deciding to use a less toxic alternative.

The Australian government is no longer refelecting either the facts of the situation or the will of the majority of Australians by perpetuating marijuana prohibition .

Cultivation of marijuana for both medical and recreational use should be made legal NOW.

IT SHOULD BE DECRIMINALIZED AND WE THE PEOPLE SHOULD DO WITH IT WHAT WE WILL AS IT IS A PLANT AND HAS NO PATENT OR OWNER. CANNABIS & HEMP COULD FREE US FROM OIL DEPENDENCY, DEFORESTATION, AND HAS MANY MEDICINAL APPLICATIONS, THERE ARE MANY STUDIES PROVING ITS USES. THIS DOCTOR IS A FOOL AND A GOVT STOODGE GIVING REEFER MADNESS STYLE BUZZWORD OPINIONS...

john. your a twit.. the government are criminals.. and you would trust a criminal to grow the plant and supply a pure medication to the people... the government are in bed with monsanto.. the leader in GMO food and fruit/veg genetic modification.. last thing we need or want is for dirty bill gates to get his hand in this .. and also no tax... the government should have no control over the cultivation , the intake , the quality or the quantity that any human can consume . no government , person or entity has the right to tell you what you can or cant consume in to your body.. NO tax tax tax tax tax tax tax tax... time to get rid of liberal and labor and the greens... end this 3 party disgraceful circus.

My young son has been on medicinal cannabis for a year now... We have gone from an average of thirty tonic clonic seizures a day (plus hundreds of myo Clonics), that's over 300 big seizures a week and too many to count of the small ones per week, to of 0-5 in a week.. Wooho! He is brighter, more alert, more aware, more responsive and interactive than he has ever been. He is also lowering not just his seizure meds but his behaviour meds as well as his behaviour (autism as well), has improved greatly... He doesn't need his sleeping meds and doesn't need laxatives either anymore... All the damage and side effects the other drugs were causing are beginning to improve since starting MC... We need trials done now and I'm sorry not pharmaceutical cannabis products as these will just contain more chemicals and cause more damage and on top of that u can't replicate a plants natural healing in a chemical capsule...it wouldn't work that way. This isn't about pharmaceutical bodies making money off our kids. It's taking what nature and god gave us and using it for good rather than to abuse and get wasted on... Let's use it for the real reason Mother Nature provided it, for its healing properties

Many may find the idea of medical cannabis abhorrent or somehow "wrong," as we've been indoctrinated to view marijuana as a dangerous gateway drug that will lead you down a path of illicit drug use.

Many fail to realize that prescription drugs actually have FAR greater potential to turn you into "a junkie." Legal drug addiction is also taking lives in record numbers. In the UK, one million people are addicted to over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription painkillers and tranquilizers.

That's significantly more than the number addicted to illegal drugs.1 In the US, there were four times more deaths among women from prescription painkiller overdose than for cocaine and heroin deaths combined in 2010.2

Pharmaceuticals in general are among the leading causes of death in the US, and some medicines have killed tens of thousands of individuals. The painkiller Vioxx is one classic example, which killed over 60,000 before being pulled off the market.

The diabetes drug Avandia is another, and most recently, a study estimated that in a five-year span, some 800,000 people in Europe were killed from inappropriate use of beta-blockers in non-cardiac surgery patients. Deaths attributed to cannabis barely registers in comparison.

I think cultivation should remain illegal even if for medicinal purposes by private entities/people. I think it should be legalised by the government and managed/delivered by a government department.

Correction *cause. Should have proof read my comment first. Oh well, you get the picture

Cannabis should be legalized full stop. It only takes 2 minutes on the internet to find out just how great it is and how great it is becoming. I have known for long now the medicinal and recreational uses of Cannabis and can see through the lies OUR government has told us and are continuing to "TRY" and tell us. I don't really need to be here commenting. Fact is, people will soon know the truth, like it or not it will be right in front of your face until you see the picture. The criminals are the ones forbidding use. The criminals are the Police and anyone who enforces these "Laws" that go against civil rights and many religions. Are we not a Nation under God?, seems to be contradictory if you'd just pick up the bible. Even if you are not religious, WHO has the right to stop you healing yourself, or even just trying to relax after a hard days work. WHY OH WHY is alcohol and Tobacco legal but not Cannabis. THE ONLY one to not have ever been the sole course of death. The ONLY one to have so many medicinal properties it would blow your mind. Seriously, if you don't take the time to do your research then bugger off, we have done our research and have earned the right to say if we can or cannot take it. Who are you to tell us not to if you don't take the time to look it up yourself.

Prohibition (of Cannabis) is wrong on many levels.

Our courts are clogged up, our police resources are squandered, millions of tax dollars are thrown away, people are treated badly.

Here we have a dying woman and her loving husband, treated very badly, at great expense - this is wrong.
