I took my daughter to her first concert when she was 8 months old. My favorite band came to the fair that year & I decided to take her along. She had hearing protection of course and she had so much fun. She danced the whole night. When she was a year old I took her to a kids concert and she had just as much fun there. She loves music and dancing. I will probably take her to another concert again soon.

My sister took my son when he was almost 5 to see Trace Adkins. He wore earplugs and he loved it. The following year we took him to see The Band Perry, he loved it, ear plugs and all. Last summer he saw Rascal Flatts, The Band Perry, and Cassidee Pope. He got t-shirts with each concert. He had a blast! This year, my second son will be 5, but I don't think he's ready for a concert yet like his older brother was. I guess it just depends.

I guess it depends on your definition of "pop" music. We took our oldest daughter to see KISS when she was 5 yrs old. We had lawn seats and ear plugs for her. She knew several of the songs due to my husband and I listening to it around the house. She wore a KISS t-shirt, sang along and danced to several songs. She still talks about it and we loved showing people the pictures. She also saw Big Time Rush twice (at age 6 and 8) and Victoria Justice (age 8). All three of those concerts we had seats within 15 rows from stage, she wore ear plugs and enjoyed the concerts. We have pictures at these concerts as well and she has smile of her face in everyone. Some of today's "pop" music I would not even go to and based on some "pop star" attitudes/actions we would never go see, we use the same sort of judgement for concerts as we do for television, will she see something that is not appropriate for her to see at her age. All of the concerts she attended was about the music and I applaud those musicians and entertainers.

Last summer we took our 4 year old to see Big Time Rush and Victoria Justice (her 2 favorite bands). We were in the lawn for the concert so it wasn't as loud as it would be up closer. The look on her face was absolutely priceless and I would take her again to another in a heartbeat. Obviously not miley cyrus but you have to use your judgement!
