Thousands of college baseball games are cancelled or postponed every year due to freezing weather. Should the college season be moved later in the year?

The difference between MLB spring training and college baseball is that Spring training is only in the warmer southern states. I follow LSU who invites tons of northern schools to play in 3 team round robin type weekend series to allow them to get games in while their climate is too cold. The bias toward southern and west coast states baseball is obvious because these areas are better suited for an outdoor sport in Feb/Mar and on.

major league spring games start at end of february . why shouldn"t college games begin at same time ? weather issues , ncaa college basketball ( gets most t.v. exposure ) , and number of games required to make post-season all contribute to an unfair college baseball season . college baseball games should begin at same time as major league teams - end of february to end of may , including conference tournaments. a 50 game schedule should be required with at least 20 games outside conference . this would be fair to everyone and still fit in with summer league schedules .

The D1 baseball season was modified a few years ago so all teams start on the same date. The teams from warmer climates still have an advantage over teams like Minnesota, who lost the Metrodome and will be on the road until the conference games start. To help teams get in enough games, how about this:
Allow schools to schedule four-game weekends, like the Big Ten used to do. If they get in the third game by Saturday night, cancel the fourth game. Just a thought.
