Trey & I met Tookie in rec baseball when they were 11 year olds. He has grown into a talented player but still remains a strong sense of humility. He makes our charter school proud to be such a gifted leader. He deserves this accolade.

I can remember the first time that I heard the hype surrounding a middle school kid, Tadric Jackson, who was slam dunking in middle school! I was impressed. Then, he became our quarterback as a freshman, which also proved to be impressive as well. I can still remember the play in which he faked a pass and all of the defenders were chasing who they thought received the ball. As it turned out, he was the one who kept the ball and went down the field-TOUCHDOWN!!! I thought wow! Subsequently, I had the opportunity to see him play basketball that same year for the first time. Again, impressive. Now, he has unselfishly helped to lead our team to our first basketball championship since 1999. I have watched him mature over these past 4 years. His talent is undeniable. What I have come to admire the most is that he realizes that humble is the way…in other words for me, although he has the talent to be a winner, he understood that it took all of his teammates to make it happen. He was unselfish when he could have easily been dominant. What better way to complete an outstanding high school career: Basketball Player of the Year-TADRIC JACKSON!

I have been watching Tadric Jackson play football and basketball since he was in the 8th grade. He is an example of a great athlete in both sports and I was sad when he decided to stop playing football to pursue basketball. I think he truly deserves to be the plaer of the year.

Tookie has had a tremendous impact on our basketball team, but the most important trait he embraces is his humility and being a very good person. I do not know the other young men, but base on his body of work, Tookie would represent the basketball community very well and has earned the right to be placed at the top among his peers.

If there was ever a year to have two winners, this is the year. Isaiah Wilkins led his team to an undefeated season and another state championship. Tadric Jackson was a state champ too and is a legend in South Georgia - deservedly so. What makes these two so special is that they are so unlike the typical stats-busting high school superstar. As my son told me about Tadric, he's the furthest thing from a "me first' player. He has the physical skils to do whatever he wants on the court, but he knows his team is much better if he involves them to the fullest extent. I watched him all year and he defines what a leader and team player really means. I was only able to see Isaiah play once, but I've heard much the same about him and his stat line supports that. In the game I saw he balanced the importance of his putting the ball in the basket with making sure his teammates were constantly in the flow. Two players of the year would honor two fine young men. It'd really be a shame if one of them had to come in #2.
