It's an honor to be listed with such talented players, let alone represent us at the top of the list. We may not have the most well-known tradition of basketball at SHS, but I myself am proud to be a part of it for so many years. The stories of such talented players, before my time, the likes of Vic Cweklinski, Les Dahn, Dan Heffernan, Marty Blanko, Joe DePasqua, etc. were always interesting to me. Then, having the chance to speak to a few of the 1957 State Championship runners-up when we brought them back to celebrate their 50th Anniversary was unreal. Leading to such greats including Sean LoPresti and Dave Solkonicki who helped teach me the game, from the court. The outstanding players that I had the opportunity to call both teammates and friends that include Greg Geloso, Andy Flach, Mike Mudry, Erik Antonetz, and Dave Bunk, just to name a few, are all part of this tradition. I have also had the chance to teach many terrific young men through being a part of this program. Whether it be the unique talents of a Dave Schultz or the lights out shooting of Matt Trumbley, my years as an assistant were packed with talented players. Dave Tvardzik and Eric DiStasi are two that could of easily made this list, as well, among others. Then there was the 2002-03 team, under legendary coach, Joseph Cavallaro, that was tied for the most successful team we had in the NVL with a great group of seniors including Judd Willadsen, Enzo Zanfardino, Kevin Boken, Adam Skibek, and Todd Andersen. My eleven seasons as the varsity coach has seen one of the best all-around players the NVL has had in Tim Dobson, a tenacious leader in Kyle Moran, and two extraordinary point guards in Louis Krohelski and Shawn Mobilio. The ferocity of Mike Happy and the smooth left-handed touch of Jon Gayda were also nice to witness. The late Sean Bertanza had a knack for scoring the basketball, sharpshooting John Murphy holds the school record for threes in a game with nine, while the rebounding and defensive prowess of Rich "Revv" Adeniyi and Chris Sheppard helped Krohelski and Moran lead a team to 13 wins in 2010. Recent players the likes of Alex Barton, Mike Conlan, and Tyler Stevens have also made a lasting impression in this fraternity, while many young players seem ready to add their names to the list. Sorry for any players/teammates that I left out, but it's a long list, in my eyes. By the way, anyone wishing to keep up with the Seymour boys' basketball team can catch us on twitter at @Seymour_Hoops.

Matt Trumbley was a starter on every game from Freshman to Senior year. Dave Shultz and Matt were a great duo. A super three point player also. He achieved over a thousand points in spite of being a very unselfish team player. He went on to play at Nichols College and was captain of his team there as well as at Seymour.

Vic Cweklinsky60'-62') should have been awarded a spot in the top five by the Rep.Am panel. During the 61'- 62' season Vic "uncorked a record breaking 47 point performance against North Haven". Not bad when their was no 3 point line. He also made the first team All-Valley in 61'-62' He was an outstanding player and teammate.
