Elizabeth you dont know what you are talking about firstly there are NO smaller properties to move to and a 3 bed social housing rent is £500 but if you move to smaller house in private sector the gov will pay up to £1000 for a 2 bed hse/flat ! That is the truth and if you think thats sensible and bringing down housing benefit costs then you are as stupid and evil as this government! Get your facts before spouting your mouth off!

liz are you saying that people with 2 or more bedrooms should only have one bedroom ? if so what about grand children staying are you saying a 60 year old should sleep with there granddaughter or grandson 9 or 10 or even exist with no one except for visits now and then or even turn relatives away who come up to stay and visit for a few days , tell them to stay in a hotel.
lets hope in the future that the government in there wisdom ? decide that any one who has a house and are working or not with more than one bedroom have to pay tax on it
luckily i am working but the stress of loosing my job and having to signing on terrifies me .
sooner or later some one will get so desperate with no money or any were to live they will start to commit crimes or even harm dwp employees to get t he papers to sit up and take notice the result of this will be imprisonment food ,bed, warm cared for etc then how much would the power that be have to pay .

People are struggling to make ends meet; people are losing their jobs and adding more problems to their already stressful life is not the answer. It would make sense if there were places for them to move to but there isn't. If I was to move out of my two bed house into a flat my rent would be more than what is being paid now. My spare room is not really a spare room because its there for when my son comes to visit me he is all I have. If I didnt still have his room how would he be able to spend quality time with me. Especially when I have a flare up of my illness. These are things that need to be concidered. There are a lot of people out there who would be isolated in there homes if they didn't have some spare room.

And there's no wonder the human race is in the state its in, people living on the breadline are being taken well under a liveable amount of money so a lot of them are starving rather than going homeless, disabled people being forced out of homes where adaptions have been made to help them or because of medical reasons cannot sleep with their partners and because a jumped up mp says so they have to pay for a so called spare room that's not a spare room at all, working families who are on low income wages even claiming a penny in housing benefit are being made to pay this subsidy plunging their families and themselves into further poverty, but that's alright they can move even though there's nowhere to move to and yet they still have to suffer, I really hope people who think this is fair never have to go through this kind of blatant victimisation and then start complaining cos the people fighting hard to have this stopped are fighting to stop human beings being treat so awfully would you do the same?

And just where are they to move to? there are not enough smaller houses for a start, there are nearly 1 million people homeless in the UK, that's before these people who cannot afford the bedroom tax fall in arrears and find themselves homeless too.

This needs to continue....if your on council help and you need help with the cost of living, you need to live in a house or flat that only suits your needs. Why is it the government needs to pay for you to have a spare bedroom. Come on people, live within your means. This is what's wrong with the world today. People are being greedy when its not even there money paying for it. No wonder countries are in so much debt. That money for your spare bedroom that you don't use can put food in a homeless persons mouth. Come on people think about it.
