What should Tiverton do about its estimated 158 private, unaccepted streets?
Nothing. Maintain status quo for each street and its current town-paid levels of service , if any.
Spend town funds to upgrade such streets to legal standards, so streets can be accepted by town, and then be provided the same services other accepted town streets get.
Make residents living on such streets pay the costs of upgrading them to meet legal standards, so they can be accepted by the town and be provided the same services other town streets get.
Cease maintaining, plowing, and sanding all such streets, and provide only minimal — but the same — services to all private roads in town.
