What should the next head of comms at General Motors focus on?
Three things: quality, quality, quality in its automobiles and trucks.
Recall comms. Clearly the automaker needs to get better at this – and fast.
Rapid response: If the last few months have shown us anything, it’s that GM responds too slowly to problems.
CEO comms: Mary Barra’s answers to Congress needed a lot of work. This needs to be fixed.
Success or failure is out of his or her hands, really. If the company builds safe cars, its reputation will take care of itself.
