We have not done anything in the past two years because the April vacation week falls when Earth Day happens, but this year I am starting a raised bed garden for the children in my school. Hopefully, I can build an Earth Day celebration around that next year with the blessing of my principal. She is the one who brought me the information about the raised beds/funding/initiative from a principals' meeting that she went to, knowing that I was interested in doing something like this. It looks like there are many others in my position (in terms of not doing anything to celebrate Earth Day), which is too bad, because it is so important to give children an appreciation of how special the world is, and how important it s that we are stewards for it.
