What do you think would be a fair trade for the 1st overall pick?

Edmontons 3rd overall selection plus Gags is a gross overpayment considering the top 4 could go in any order.
If they want Ekblad so badly, find an extra 3rd round selection to throw at Florida with the 3rd overall pick. Even a high second as a throw-in is a bit much IMO, although without showing my hand to Florida I potentially would do a high 2nd as the throw-in because at some point the oilers need to give up a bit more for what they want but not as much as a former 6th overall selection.
Also find a way to turn Gags into another top 9 pick to draft big Nick Ritchie.
It's a lot of leg work for MacT to figure out how to make this scenario work but I'd be up to that task.

Despite the fact that the Oilers are in need of a legit powerful D-man draft like Ekblad, I think it's best suited that they give up their 3rd overall pick and Gagner for a better, and only chance to land Ekblad. The only issue is, if they get rid of Gagner, they're gonna have to find a way to sighn a top heavy veteran centremen to take over Gagner's spot; although they might have prospect Arcobello, but he's not a top heavy contender for the top 6 lines. They need bigger bodies up front now.

Ridiculous proposition for you all. Would you be willing to trade next year's first round pick for the top pick in this year's draft? Not saying Tallon would make this deal, nor am I saying the players we would pick could immediately step in and fill the gaping holes in our current lineup. I just can't fathom another year where we would be eligible to potentially draft first overall. Maybe that's just wishful thinking.
