I wish my fellow lions fans would give up on the db situation we drafted 5 over the last 2 years let them develops under a new position coach/ coordinator. Our db's didn't fit Swartz's schem and Schwartz couldn't adjust to opposing offenses let's see what we have before we start to give up on this new staff. How often does a db shine in the first years 1 in every 10 years I'll take my chances with what we have. Our pressure up front didn't help our back end either (28 sacks) once again let's see this new system. As far as safty there isn't 1 safty period in this draft class that would have started over Quinn or ihegdublu so did you want a first or second rounder to develops to me that's a wast of a pick. I give this draft a B+ all you haters out there strap on the seat belt and enjoy the ride
    Go lions
Sincerely your #1 lions fan from iowa

I understand the concept of using the board and going with the best available player very well. That concept was already in place when Schwartz was here."rip". What i dont understand is why we havent addressed our need at corner first and long before this draft. You got Tate now, CJ, pettigrew, Fauria for the red zone and the best running back tandum in the league. Not to mention there must still be a lot of hope in Broyles to still keep him around. And i still think Durham and Stafford hav a connection that Stafford will make sure he gets what he needs to deserve playing time. In a nut shell i say our offense was stacked and had little need of up keep through the draft. And where is Suh? And did fairly step it up this off season or is he on his way to being another had potential casualty? Im not saying Detroit cant take it all the way, they got massive weapons and im glad they can take some of the load off of Calvin now but that first pick seemed a little wasted to me...

ok. i've gone off about this before (on nfl.com), but just wanted to mention a few things. i'm going to say that i have nothing against eric ebron as a person or a player. he may very well be the next jimmy graham. that being said, the lions did not do enough to solidify their defense. there is only so much you can do with scheme. the van noy pick, for me, is the best pick of this draft. plug-and-play is the term i'm leaning towards. the swanson pick was necessary because of the aging of raiola. give swanson a year or two under raiola, and he should be good to go. then we get the development-type players. webster, lawson, reid. what happened to "win now?" this draft does not give me the confidence that this organization does not know the meaning of that term. by the time 1/2 of the kids from this draft are able to contribute substantially (if at all), we'll have spent another 3+ years in mediocrity (at best). that does not scream "win now" to me. it does not even say it. its a whisper, in a grumble, under the organization's breath. i'm hoping they prove me wrong. i honestly do. but history tells me i have a better chance of being correct than not.

A lot of people hate the 3rd rd center pick. I understand it. The man plays well at both center and guard. In 2015 the Lions can lose Riola to retirement or Sims to FA or both or neither. But Riola is getting up there in age. I really don't see him playin past 2015. Swanson gives u an amazing kid who can learn from those vets to be the center of the future. Or guard if he's better at that.
