There is more than one mountain here. Perhaps you could put three mountain points? Blue and Green are great colors to use. They represent colleges and high schools.

I think your choices are terrible. I think you should throw out those rules for a flag. Your city logo is awesome. I think you should do something like that, some variation to the logo. It is a city flag, not a country. I would probably not recognize any city flag of all the places I have lived. I think the city logo would look fantastic flying over city hall. Think about it. Give more choices to vote on. I think you would see the logo flag would get more votes.

I initially wanted our sweet-awesome city logo on our flag but the point about the Texan flag totally makes sense. I chose the one with stars because it has meaning if you care to know but if not it just looks cool. I think that this flag is perfect.

The single mountain seems a bit minimalistic--when I think of Provo I think of the grand mountains and canyons (such as Rock Canyon) so three or more somewhat-overlapping mountain peaks would add interest. I also like the idea of the line between the lake and land being somewhat curved or wavy. As for the stars, putting one right over the single peak crowds it too near the top edge of the flag. Perhaps the two side stars could be moved further left and right and higher in the sky and the center star could be placed in the middle green area. That way it could represent the people of Provo (similar to "starring" a county seat on a map) and the two in the sky could represent resources and innovation. Good luck with this effort!

I love the design. Kids in Provo will love being able to draw it. I like that there is no red, but there is both blue and green for all our BYU and UVU students who live here. The lake, mountain, and sky is a good idea too, however, I think we all know the colors are really for BYU and UVU students and their families. :)

I can imagine that it IS difficult to come up with a simple and yet striking flag, but these just aren't doing it for me. With so much talent in the area, seems you should hold a contest and then put it to a vote. Provo is awesome, but by looking at these flags it makes me feel like there is no there there.

Like Bev, I don't really like either one. The green is ugly. I only voted for the "stars" because option 2 is too plain. Since green is a Provo High color, will some people think you are leaving out Timpview? It doesn't bother me that it is green, it's just the shade of green is not pleasant. But then green and orange would also be ugly. I guess it's not possible to start over? :-)

I don't really care for either option. But of the two option one is only slightly better.

DON'T do the stars. Although they are nice in theory, they would take too much explaining, no one would remember, and for those who never hear the explanation, they would wonder if it represents Provo's night life, or the LDS church presidency, etc.

The top of the water should be slightly wavy (which would make only the bottom of the white stripe slightly wavy).

The sky should be a lighter shade (but not too light); a happy blue, rather than an ominous dark depressing night-ish blue.
