Red Sox need players w bat control. We don't necessarily have a problem with getting on base as with smartly advancing those runners and scoring the RISP.
    - PEDROIA could bat close to .400 if he would consistently go with the pitch and grind out all at bats. And, he is the best #2 hitter.
-We need speed and the threat if stealing a base. That disrupts a pitcher more than anything.
    - Gomes is terrible in the OF
    - Bunting is a great tool for batters who's avg hovers around the low 200s. Someday we may require our players in this category to master this art.
    - Baserunning is a talent that should not be missing in professional ball players yet it is apparent that this current Red Sox roster has players not very good at running the bases.

Thus, since we lack so much, in the fundamental category, I can't see where acquiring Drew (who will hit in the lower .200s) will change our 2014 push to be the 4th or 5th place ALE team.

Pick up some speed and bat control for the top of the order (I don't know where you get it from ) and another 25-30 home runs to the existing lineup and then Drew's steller defense will be awesome.
