I have a fanfic story that is a sequel to John Carter. I'm halfway done with it and when I finish it, you can read it if you like. Trust me, I want a sequel to be made too.

The movie grabs you once on Mars, as the characters have strong individuality. Burroughs' books were the first SF Romance novels. I know I want to see the cast back on Mars.

Trust me - it really works as a date movie. And the sequels have to deliver at least that.

Loved the books years ago when I first found Edgar Rice Burroughs. Waited for ever to see the series made into movies. Finally it was made and it was made well. Then the big wigs at Disney decided it was not that good and pulled the rug out from under it. The critics panned it even before it was released and the movie goers had no idea of what it was about. There was no connection made to the stories significance in the history of science fiction. This should have been a home run. The sad thing is that, even though it did not make back its initial investment, it was still a well loved movie. Those who took a chance and went to see it, for the most part, loved it. It needs a sequel and if more people voice their opinions maybe it can happen.

    More Woola!!!

And this time, make sure the word "Mars" is somewhere in the title. I really think if the first movie was titled "John Carter OF MARS" It would have done tons better.

Not Barsoom... Mars. A word that tells the audience that this is a Science Fiction movie.

I would LOVE to see not only a sequel, but the full trilogy that Andrew Stanton spoke about. Stanton put a new, creative twist on the original material that not only updated it for modern viewers, but leaves the fans of the original John Carter novels with tantalizing speculations on how he would portray the rest of the books. "John Carter" the movie captured "A Princess of Mars" the book in a wonderful way that I had not thought possible.

Seeing Taylor Kitsch in this role has made me a new fan. I would say the same of Lynn Collins. I now look for their films as ones to watch. James Purefoy, Ciaran Hinds, and the rest of the cast were all well known to me before the film and part of the reason I had looked forward to seeing "John Carter". I hope that they could all return to finish the trilogy someday.

John Carter is a GREAT movie and Taylor Kitsch did a FANTASTIC job. You guys already have the costumes and atrezzo from part , come on! …
In regards to the box-office issue, I think it would also have been somewhat helpful if Disney had let slip that John Carter source material was a novel witten some 100 years ago, because I hate when some people say that this is some sort of rip-off of Avatar or Star Wars.
And PLEASE, arrange some kind of deal with Necca or McFarlane in order to have them release FIGURES based on the characters. There are thousands of collectors like myself (as well as children) that would very much appreciate it.

93% says YES, I think that speaks for it's self! I want to see part two! I'v read the first three books now! So bring it on!

This was by far the BEST film that came out that year. I am so sick and tired of people continually putting it down. The fact that JOHN CARTER was a "commercial failure" says more about the lack of work Disney put into promoting it - and the apparent lack of taste on the part of the vast majority of moviegoers at the time - than it does about the quality of the film itself. I'll take this film over the abyssmal AVATAR any day.

Disney, take me back to Barsoom! (No reboot, please. Just let Stanton finish his trilogy!)

  • Thomas P - 10 years ago

I hope for the sequel, but what producer would risk losing his position as the previous one? Disney has made a no-promotion of what should have been a trilogy of Mars of movies and comics.

The John Carter series is the foundation of everything we have today for science fiction. It was tragedy enough that it took this long for a major studio to make this movie, it would really be a terrible mistake if Disney did not continue the franchise just because they screwed up the marketing on the first one.

Loved the first movie! NEED a sequel as all the groundwork has been laid and is ready to be built up to massive heights! The cast and crew want to do it, which says a lot for this day and age in Hollywood!

    Make a trilogy !

John carter is the birth stone of Sci Fi . Don't let it turn to rubble because Disney failed to market it properly. Give it a chance and you will see that the story of John carter is as epic as that of star wars , the matrix and even superman . There is so much more to John carter than this one movie and if your willing to stick with it, it will stick with you for the rest of your life

John Carter (of Mars) is a wonderful movie. I have viewed it many times, enjoying the story, FX, actors, and the superb musical score. I have read all the books and truly want to see more of the John Carter/Barsoom stories. Please, make more sequels for us to enjoy!!

  • Norman T. Ray - 10 years ago

I love the movie, I love the books, and I NEED to see the sequel, I never wanted a sequel so much, please Disney do it!! They botched the marketing on the first one, and they know it. Many people have discovered the movie since, and are loving what they see (just see comments on Amazon), the sequel will be a blockbuster.
