I personally believe there is no need for extreme dog laws perhaps a bit more regulation on this like joining aapdb (Australian assosiation of pet dog breeders) who actually introduced that registered pet breeders must take in and rehome any dog it has sold for life and yearly vet checks on animals and premisesl but in wa we need a seperate body for breeders to register cause dogs west is the only wa specific register and you must breed pure bred that comes from another pure breeder not to mention you just have to pass a test on there ethics pay a fee and bam your a registered breeder set up a department to register and check breeders

All livestock is licenced and therefore the health, care and welfare of the animals is monitored and someone is accountable for it. And these are animals we eat. Surely it makes sense to do the same with the animals we love??

Yes it should have been brought in years ago. People need to be accountable for there actions. We don't treat humans like that so we shouldn't do it any kind of animal. When you have a dog of any type of animal that is a privilege and you should honour it . I never realised how many dogs and card are out there to adopt. It is really sad . I wish for a lot to change and that is a good place to start . Someone needs to stand up and take some action because it's not fair that they suffer for a humans actions that they didn't ask for

Absolutely breeders should be registered. As stated by Jill, the sale of all dogs should be limited to the rescue sites ie Shenton Park, RSPCA, etc and all other facilities closed down. This would also mean policing the websites and papers for private ads, whom can then be investigated and/or procecuted. This solves the issue on a number of levels; by providing pets suitable to home dynamics; ones already sterilised and immunised; lessening the overcrowding and sometimes uneccessary euthanasia at refuges. If a purchaser wishes to go to a registered breeder (who should be monitored/audited) they are more certain to get what they are actually wanting. Bring on this law - the sooner the better.

Yes ban unregistered breeders, poor animals leading cruel miserable life's because these people want to make quick money, even registered breeders need more monitering , why keep causing more dog/cat population when animal rescues are full to the max, these rescues are not just full with mix breeds, some people will pay high prices for a pet and still don't look after them responsibly, as for the law on the likes of this latest king woman why did she get banned 10 years from keeping an animal, it should have been life ban and jail sentence.

    These people should receive mandatory
jail sentences bans and fines are no deterrent for cruelty

Of course we need registered breeders, who are going to care for their animals with proper Vet treatment.

Ban sale of puppies and kittens in Pet Stores and online, eg Gumtree.
Encourage people to buy rescued dogs and pups, www.petrescue.com.au
or go to a decent breeder - VISIT THE BREEDER, see the conditions.
Its not rocket science folks, just commonsense and humanity.
