Should Kansas Legalize Marijuana?

We've had enough of a sample size from other states to see how this can help Ks. Our schools are suffering, and with it, our children's future. Our state's future. My family will be leaving the state of my birth for this reason. Because our lawmakers are not trend setters, and their personal agendas take precedence over the state's needs and future. That is heartbreaking.

Wichita already voted yes but it didn't happen. Local government said put it to vote then didn't like the results! This is how Kansas is. The people are not represented by our elected officials.

This all started in the 1920s as a part of a fear campaign against mexican immigrants that is way outdated but has been a source of revenue, a statistical boost on law enforcement, and an expense on the government since...

From a non-user: If we tax it and regulate it we could gain more capital than we get on fines and we could recover from the Brownback deficit and better fund schools, fix the roads, and educate the police force while boosting the local economy by creating many small businesses and job growth... all this leading to a safer, more educated state with a stronger economy and a brighter future for Kansas.

I personally have never understood why marijuana is classified as a Class 1 drug next to other substances like heroin or cocaine.
If we would recognize that marijuana has medicinal purposes for both body and mind, I don't care if it's recreational or medical comma if we could Legalize It here in our state we could fix our school funding problem that Brownback has gotten us into.

I would rather see someone smoke weed walking down the street than someone drunk any day. I used to do it and it would calm me down and actually think about stuff rather than freak out all the time but I'm so afraid to do it again because I don't want to loose my babies!

If it would help my pain I would surely try it! Unable to take pain meds because of kidneys failing. For a time I was popping ibuprofen like MnM's. That was a huge mistake! Told to quit! If resources could be used for our schools, it would benefit everyone.

You guys aren't going to see legalization sitting here saying "weed niggas" etc. It marijuana users like that that give it a bad name.

Use ALL taxes for schools and road repair. Make it to where no government agencies can touch it except for those 2 things and that's it

Kansas Is failing, we have no job creation, our jails are over populated, and our schools are suffering. Legalization of marijuana would boost jobs, clear our jails, and create much needed tax $ to help our schools!!

It is terrible that it is not available legally. There are many people that would benefit medically from being able to use it. It has far less reaching side effects than modern medicine and the benefits are in some cases more than 10 times that of medication that can have fatal side effects. It would generate millions in revenue directly and indirectly to our state. It would free up space in our jails and prisons reducing not only the population there but the amount of debt for prosecuting and housing . It is a win win and should have already been done.

It's a plant... There's no reason for a plant to be illegal. Colorado has already proven how much legalization can boost the economy. I support legalization, not only because it's less harmful and more beneficial than a lot of prescription drugs, but also because of the many other uses (oil, paper, fabric, etc)...

I believe that the state of kansas could get a huge economic boost by the sell of marijuana to people
