Good move, I don't think so but leave it up to Oilers management they know it all, what's that saying 499 clicks in a clue, so guess how many clicks they have, prob 1 or 2

It costs that much to get someone go come to Edmonton. This management group is well known!

They overpaid intentionally so he would take 2 years instead of looking for 5-6 at 4M, which he would have had on open market. This is not a bad move since they are not against the cap...there is no opportunity cost to the oilers. This is only a bad move to people who ignore circumstances. It may inflate some other contracts, but with the "new money" in the higher cap, that was happening no matter what. Callahan's huge term and money is far worse in my opinion.

That is a ton of money for a third pairing defenceman who may at best make this team marginally better. It also puts the franchise (and the league) in the position of having to overpay its young defencemen. Not a shrewd move today with horrendous impact going forward.

So if he is worth 4.5 million per year than what's that make guys like Drew Doughty and Duncan Keith worth? 20 million????
