You can't just stick him at second base. There's so many intricacies of the position he'd have to learn. Yeah, the throw is shorter but who's to say he could make accurate throws even from second? He looks comfortable in left field. His arm is awful, but there are alot of left/center fielders with no arm in the big leagues. As long as he makes catches like an average outfielder (which he looks very capable of doing so far) left field is the best spot for him.

Second base: Shorter throw, Harper and Rendon still play everyday, switch handed bat gets added to bench for late inning situations, LaRoche's gold glove stays at first, Rendon's rocket of an arm stays at third, and nobody has to hold their breath when a short fly ball is hit to left with a runner on third
