this is a travesty. Enta Da Stage is debatably in Hip Hop's all time top 5 albums. That alone should get them through. Where's the DP classic? But this was all ridiculous from the time Souls of Mischief didn't make the bracket and Pete Rock and CL Smooth weren't even mentioned in the honoraries.

    Black moon

@Craig you are an evil evil man. I know who I would pick in a Boot Camp vs Wu-Tang (at least I'm pretty sure) but my extreme love for both would mean making a choice would keep me up nights, strain my marriage, cause panic attacks, and make me curse at children. Let's not do that. ever. EVER!!

  • Craig - 10 years ago

I think this should b swaped with brand neubian and the other match should be wu tang clan vs the boot camp clik....

This is the weakest matchup in the tourney. DPG had one decent album, Black Moon is only one emcee and shouldn't be eligible.

I'd like to see Eightball & MJG in the bracket.

I would put both of these groups WAY below pharcyde. Even Digable Planets for that matter.

  • Kane206 - 10 years ago

How is this a 4-5 matchup and the Pharcyde didn't make the bracket?

  • Drew - 10 years ago

This whole list is a tad bit east coast biased, so hopefully DPG will continue on. Gotta go on the strength of their whole catalogue. How good were they on the Chronic and Doggystyle too? Ain't no fun? Doggy Dogg World? Exactly.

    Also, where is Westside Connection?

Also, where is Westside Connection? BOW DOWN! They should be on the list.

Love Black Moon but they only had one rapper. But if I fcuk, and if Daz fcuk, and if snoop fcuk then we all gon fcuk. Classic!!

I'd be curious to know how many people dissin the Dogg Pound in the comments section are from the east coast. I got love for Black Moon especially Enta Da Stage, but there was a time when Dogg Pound/Deathrow ran ALL HIP-HOP. Boot Camp Clik can't make that claim.

This one is just weird. Dogg Pound had one great album, and Black Moon while relevant was basically one rapper, a disqualification by Jacoby's standards (see: Boogie Down Productions).

But perhaps even weirder is just how biased towards DPG this poll is. Legitimate shocker.

Enta da Stage is miles ahead anything Daz or Kurupt ever released.

  • the ghost of leonard tose - 10 years ago

enta da stage is better than the chronic much less anything the dogg pound has ever done....shit the remixes from the singles on enta da stage are > the dogg pound

It's damn near a travesty that the group that made "Who Got Da Props?" isn't making it to the second round. smh.

    smh

Are we only supposed to consider GROUP albums? Or also the solo material by those group members? If it's only group albums, the resume for Dogg Pound is kinda thin. Dogg Food is a pure classic, "What Would You Do" is a classic. Dillinger and Young Gotti and Cali Iz Active were good. After that ehh. But both Daz and Kurupt had some excellent solo material imo.

This was unfair to Black Moon. Plus, thats mostly just Buckshot anyway, 5 FT mostly in and out of jail and shit. Of course, if you are talking about just Dogg Pound, not DPGC, technically just one (incredible classic) album! Interesting match-up.

  • Dr. Shabazz - 10 years ago

I had to put my east coast bias aside for this one and go with the Dogg Pound, criminally underrated group.
That being said, I always felt Black Moon was the weakest group in Boot Camp Clik...Heltah Skeltah, OGC, and Smif N Wessun ALL had better albums.

  • Waah - 10 years ago

An Effin tragedy that black moon will lose.

  • vora - 10 years ago

    DPGC 4 Life!

  • Tony - 10 years ago

Dogg Pound was just Daz and Kurupt. Snoop's only affiliated but not in the group.
