I agree. People attempting suicide need help n not punishment. Also mental health awareness needs to be spread among people to help themselves as well as friends n relatives n family

Now all of ordinary intelligence and poor folks in unreserved categories countrywide have a legal option opened up by Politicians. Cannot thank them less.

It is a welcome move by the present government. At the same time proper counselling and rehabitation of such persons with suicidal tendency before attempt to suicide and after attempted suicide is essential. It is stupid to imprision such person as adding salt to injury.

Instead of decriminalize there should be aystem in police department to council such people. We are running an initiative titled "SWANDANAM" , I had a chance to interact with hundreds of people who decided to commit suicide and made attempt which failed. After giving them little care, love, confidence none of them commit suicide and are living happily. It is inhuman punishing people who attempt to commit suicide.

It's a cruel and idiotic law. Putting a mentally I'll person in prison is inhuman. I welcome the move to decriminalize suicide attempts. These people need help and not jail time.

suppose SB is going to commit suicide ,means his life is intolerable but what about those who has some aspirations to him like his parents ,children, wife,......that person have no right to put theirs on stake....so make this law uncriminalize but some law should also be there.....

Such a law will not deter
    a person who already
decided to die. * ( man who is ready ti die can do anything). hence the
same is useless. it is wise
    thing the govt is doing
    to remove it.

I welcome this amendment. More number of suicides in a country means the failure of governance, forcing the dejected to do the act. A good welfare country will have less number of suicides, whatever be the reason. A person is driven to this extreme act only after he exhausts all the avenues . More and more suicides in a country should give punishment to those at the helm of affairs, not the perpetrator who requires sympathy.

What is requested to note , person shall commit suicide when situation under which person lives life , & shall have to live life even in future , becomes intolerable. ife can not bear day to day taunting, harassment, insult, farmers is impossible to repay debt, , make family to survive, when young generation fails in love etc.Govt can make suicide a punishable offense but simultaneously should try to extend basic help to suffereres
