How Much Money Have You Spent on Pony Merchandise?

Buy more merch you cheapskates! Buy some plushies or blind bags at least! It's actually the best way to support the show, because it's literally all Hasbro cares about.

Anyway, probably $300+ for me, though some of that was for my sister.

  • Frith - 10 years ago

I should be able to use this data to project the buying power of the brony community with respect to pony merch, but how do I graph this data? It's a series of ranges. If I could graph it, maybe the graph would suggest a curve indicating the average expenditure of each group. I'm stymied.

  • LapnLook - 10 years ago

I live in hungary, so I cannot find any pony merch (other than toys, but I don't want pony toys), thus I haven't bought anything

  • ANNOLEAM - 10 years ago

Lol, I am still pretty new to the fandom, I have spent 1-10$ on 2 t-shirts 1 awesome pair of leggings and a vinyl derpy whooves and 1 calendar. :3 still looking for a vinyl Dr. Whooves and DJ Pon3 :D

  • Lunae Lumen - 10 years ago

Hm. I have spent exactly zero dollars on MLP merchandise for myself. I have spent probably $100-$200 on merchandise for my niece. Being a fan of the show meant I could coordinate the Christmas and birthday gift-giving to make sure she got all the best ponies.

I will never forget the way her face lit up for some of them. Her eyes got real wide and she kinda gasped, and then yelled "It's Twilight Sparkle! And Rarity!"

    Good times :)

  • NellzDaBlackKing - 10 years ago

If we're talking about official Hasbro merchandise for MLP, then I haven't spent money on them. But outside of that, I have bought a drink with Rainbow Dash on it while I was in a comic book store almost every time I went in, so if that counts, then I have spent at least $50 on it. Fan art, T-Shirts, music, etc. I haven't spent any money on, I just watch the show on Netflix, most likely watch Rainbow Rocks whenever it's available, fan animations, listen to fan made and official music and view Tumblr ask blogs.

  • Atrus Oranis - 10 years ago

I voted the $300-$600, but if we only account for official Pony merch, it would probably be between $100 and $300. Fan made work can be incredibly expensive, and music adds up over time.

  • DarkPillWarrior - 10 years ago

You know... I have been watching the show ever since around 2011... and I have been reading lots of fics and playing lots of games... but I haven't bought any pony merchandise... I mean... All I have to do for the show is watch it on netflix... and I was never really interested in collecting any of the toys or games... Hmph... I need to spend more don't I...

  • Adam - 10 years ago

You know, it's not that hard. I spent over $300 by just buying comics and a few toys here and there. I don't have a pony shrine, but I know I've spent enough to say $300. I think a lot of people are low-balling this poll. Even if you consider yourself to no have disposable income, if you spend money on the comics for a year, that's already about $100 in just comic book money for a years worth of issues.

  • Ohmeko Ocampo - 10 years ago

Where is the option for obsessed. XD I'm between 600 to 1000 dollars in pony stuff.

  • Mariana - 10 years ago

I'm just guessing here but I'm gonna say over 1,000. Let's see.... brushables, folders, notebooks, calendars, pencils, gel pens, socks, comic books, sticker books, coloring books, blankets, pillows, books, socks, t-shirts, pajamas, plushies, slap bracelets, trading cards, those loom bracelet kits, light-up rings, squishy little toys, funko chibi figures, vinyl figures, blind bags, board games, cups, puzzles, a Pinkie Pie hand soap dispenser, a pillowcase, wall decals, and only Celestia knows what else... yeah, it's gonna be over 1,000 dollars for sure.

  • MrAskAPirate - 10 years ago

Somewhere between $600 and $1k... although by the time the 3rd and 4th expansion sets of MLP CCG come out it's gonna be topping $1k fo'sho, >.>

  • Bro1997 - 10 years ago

$100-300. Technically $134.91 if you wanted to know. Surprised 24% of Bronies don't even have pony merchandise!

  • Twylite-Sparkle - 10 years ago

$300-600-A little bit of everything. But my faves to collect is the Monopoly game, Funko vinyl figures, blindbag figures, trading cards, & stuffed animals, spaghetti or regular hair.

  • Yinzer - 10 years ago

How are you voting on an internet poll if you live in abject poverty?

  • derpyshan - 10 years ago

    Antimor:

Deal with it - not all of us want to spend a single coin in MLP pony things.

  • Frith - 10 years ago

Antimon... the power level is strong in that one. [\Darth Vader]. $1,000 in WLF shirts! You have, what, one for every day of the month?! Whoa Nelly! So, when are you going to invite us over to play Pony Monopoly in your plush fort buttressed with stacks of cards and books? 8^D I'll bring the cake.

  • bluefury700 - 10 years ago

Due to virtually empty pockets, I was only able to get three comics and a blindbag. As for a Happy Meal, I don't know what's worth, but still, my money spending is in the lowest nonzero interval.

  • Antimon - 10 years ago

I can't believe how many people are saying/claiming nothing...24% of you watch a show, like it enough to know of the fandom, go on Equestria Daily, vote in a dang poll, and haven't bought a SINGLE thing, not a blind bag, t-shirt, sticker, video from I-tunes, plush, book, litterly nothing...? *looks around my room and can't go more then 2 feet without a pony in view* Hell I am obsessed? I'm over $1000 just in T-shirts from We Love Fine alone...then there are 2 full sets of aurora plush every standard Funko figure produced, most of the funrise plush in 10" anyway and the princesses. Every decent pony book with Daring do on the way, nearly complete sets of series 1, 2, premiere and canterlot nights trading cards, full set of mcd toys, 3 posters, a whole bunch of blind bags, some equestrian girls, the 2 toys r rus favorites colelctions, comic con pon-3 pony monopoly, hot topic costumes, full set of all 3 comic series, most fo the blind bag sets, all but nightmare moon (1 version each) of the we love fine figures, 2 custom plush from one maker, hell I traded 2 fursuits valued over $5,000 total for another 16 custom pony plush...yeah, blankets, cups, a pillow, season 1 dvd, equestrian girls Blu-ray, brony doc Blu-ray, donated to a few pony musicians, a custom ponu kigu, and some day maybe a pony suit.

  • flintban - 10 years ago

I haven't spent a lot at one time maybe $50 once, but after 3 years. Between blind bags, enterplay cards and dogtags, funko toys, McDonalds toys, and other random merch, I'm pretty sure I've broke 1000.

  • HalflingPony - 10 years ago

I refuse to answer on the basis that actually calculating it all up would force me to seriously re-evaluate my state of mental health.

  • zombienixon - 10 years ago

I don't know exactly, but it has to be around $500-$600 total over the past 2 1/2 years. That number is only going to get bigger since I started collecting the toys a few months ago, and stuff like the EqG dolls and the Fashion Styles (especially the earliest ones) can really add up, not to mention that there are several Funkos I want to get, plus a few G3s and G1s.

  • AJ 300 - 10 years ago

I got all the vinyl figures in their glitter version. So that has me surpass the $1000 including all the other stuff I have.

  • Frith - 10 years ago

Wave ten blind bags just turned up in a store near me today. I spent $39. 9_9 This poll needs to redone, splitting the $100 - $300 option split into two choices ($100 - $199 & $200 - $300) and swapping out the over $1,000 option for four new options: $1,000 to $1,999, $2,000 to $4,999, $5,000 to $9,999 and over $10,000. I mean, some one bought a quilt for $20,000, and even way back in 2011 a Fluttershy plush in a Gala dress sold for over $3,000.

  • randompony - 10 years ago

    Pre-FiM merchandise does count...right?

  • randompony - 10 years ago

When I was a kid, I was really into collecting G3 pony toys. I think I have at least 50 of them. Actually, I just ran across them in the garage not too long ago!

  • DannyKay4561 - 10 years ago

Holy shit there 452 people that spend over $1000 for just pony merchandise? lol I know you're a fan but seriously I think 1000 is too much. What did you buy?

  • martin - 10 years ago

What kind of a loser would spend this much money on useless junk.

  • brokenwings94 - 10 years ago

i spend around 500 Euro so far.. This month 2 Vinyl Figures, Rainbow Dash Pendant and Rainbowdash Pinkie Pie t-shirt :)

  • Horsey404 - 10 years ago

At first I was like "all I got is my lanyard and a shotglass, but then I remembered I bought three seasons on google play and will likely buy every one eventually.

My little sister is going to love me when I show up at family holiday gatherings.

  • mouse - 10 years ago

I have bought one Rarity brushable. So $3 :P

  • Pizza Pony - 10 years ago

This definitely needs more higher options. I've lost count on what I've spent, but I know its over $8000.

  • Doctor Breznov - 10 years ago

    @Emma Rose

It's not useless if it makes me feel happy. I've spent quite a bit on plushies over two years ago and I'm still getting more.

But if being a condescending bitch to people who have the money to spend makes you feel better, then be my guest. Advocate some communism while you're at it.

  • Peanut Crunch - 10 years ago

I'd like an "I've lost count" option.

  • Mikkelib - 10 years ago

Im not sure how much it costs in dollars, because, damn big currency difference between Danish currency (DKK) and US dollars. So i chose from 100-300 dollars, because i can recall from when i last went to the US and had about 900 DKK on my credit card, it turned out that i only had about 162 dollars. Man, that shocked me how much you have to bring from your own country to actually have a lot of money in the US.

  • cheeseburger - 10 years ago

My collection is around 96, and my first trip to toys r us cost around 250$, and then I saw ponymania and wild rainbow, and had to get those, thennn, I found the 2013 favorites with DERPYYYYY, after that, I bought derpy vinyl and the cupcake keepsakes, THENN, I pre ordered daring do, and I think that totals up to around 600$ I guess? Oh my sweet celestia I have a problem

  • 172rainbow - 10 years ago

I have two 500$ plushies, some other small things and 5 t-shirts, so close to 2000$ I think.

  • Rockpath5 - 10 years ago

    @Emma Rose
As long as we don't go to pure communism--From each according to his/her ability. To each according to his or her need.--there are going to be people who buy stuff they don't need. Having money you don't need or spend is a lot more useless than spending it on stuff you don't need. The reason it's obscene is because there are people who don't even have what they need. I believe people have a right to what they need and would support a system based on "To each according to his/her contribution but at least to his/her need." I don't believe that pure communism is likely to work, but Id be willing to give it a try. Good luck getting either instated! If we are lucky, maybe we won't go all the way to corporate feudalism.

  • Emma Rose - 10 years ago

This poll scares me. The amount of money people are willing to spend on useless merchandise is astounding… Have fun swimming in greed, idiots.

  • UrbanMysticDee - 10 years ago

More than 400, probably less than 700/800, just for actual physical items.

If secondary expenses count (picture frames, travel costs, etc.), double it.

  • Jfluffy - 10 years ago

A lot... *Hugs his Applejack Plushie*

  • Frith - 10 years ago

I've spent over $3,600 on plush, figures, comics, books, DVD's, music, shirts, pins, comforters/covers, prints/calendar/posters, pens, cakes and gifts... OK , more like over $4,000. I should have looked at the poll first and noted that the highest value option was $1,000 and saved myself the trouble of making a rough total. I haven't bought any one thing that cost more than $100, not even the Zap Apple I bought at a charity auction.

  • L4R63N7 - 10 years ago

I WISH is had over a $1000 to spend on pony. Granted, I'm pretty sure I've spent around $500 over the past 3 years, but there's still a LOT of other crap I've seen that I just couldn't bring myself to buy. Unfortunately having a place to live with electricity and hot water ranks higher than a shirt with Princess Luna on it (but just barely).

  • Gammer7 - 10 years ago

If Pony Music counts as pony merch then I've probably spent around $20 on pony merch. If it doesn't than I probably spent $2 to $5 on pony merch.

  • Anon - 10 years ago

I'm pretty sure I'm close to or have surpassed $20k by now, thanks in part to the comics, collectable trading cards and vinyl figurines, along with other bits, baubles and toys here and there.

  • Midnight Aperture - 10 years ago

I'm with you OhMy .. I'm easily into the $20k range. Be it custom stuff, art, prints, plushies.. or basically pretty much every G4 MLP toy they've come out with officially from Hasbro.

  • Schwanck - 10 years ago

I have for sure spent over a $1000. The most expensive item I bought was a keys of harmony necklace for $400.

  • OhMy - 10 years ago

I've spent well over $20,000 on pony merch. :) So over $1000 doesn't even begin to scratch the surface. :P

  • Anonymous - 10 years ago

I bought the Fallout: Equestria books, so, yep, that rose the bar.

  • Shadow Wind47 - 10 years ago

$100-300 from my own pocket, and then the rest have been gifts

  • Wertcvsts - 10 years ago

Some thing of pony stuff I can't see spending 50 to hundred dollors not unless u buy forty different things well not unless u boght that 6,000$ comic then I stand correct

  • shudderbrush - 10 years ago

    I'm not quite sure. I voted $300-$600.

All 4 seasons in 1080p on iTunes cost me around $90, I think.

I donated $300 to the Brony-Doc back in the day. (Too bad it didn't turn out to be worth it)

I've purchased digital copies of EVERY Pony Comic and EVERY G.M. Berrow Book, plus the Seapony one.

I have Physical copies of the "Elements of Harmony" and "Journal of the Two Sisters" books, and have pre-ordered the Daring Do Collectors set.

... and then I have a large storage bin filled with various Brushables, Miniatures and other FIM toys equaling an unknown total cost. Too Much. The Fan-Favorites brushables set cost me around $40 on it's own. $200 or more combined, I would guess. Probably more, counting my "Brony" cap and Derpy Messenger Bag, and Equestria Girls Blu-Ray and ... OH CELESTIA, HELP ME.

I don't have any Plushies yet, not because I don't want any, but because I can't possibly buy only one.

It all started when I thought I would just get a Pinkie Pie brushable and nothing else. Then Just the Mane Six, but no more. Then I saw Lyra and Trixie brushables ... and a Zecora ... and those Miniatures sets were pretty good too, so I got a few of them and ... down and down the Rabbit Hole I went ...

  • Anonymouse - 10 years ago

I just now realized that I haven't got any pony merch... Dufaq have I been doing this whole time?

  • RockerBrony - 10 years ago

Where's the option for "Too Much"? Oh well, I did the > $1,000 one for now. xD
