blackstar is more universal than any other group, young, old, black, white, donkey. everyone can connect with the lyrics. and they also drank alot of psilocybin, which helps with the realization that music and life is an infinite spiral of vibrations. )))))) tribe= much respect.buuuuut this song is one of the best arrangements of sound and words ever written.

Y'all gotta be troling with this Black Star shit. Love the album, even still rock my Black Star Tshirt but they shouldnt have made it this far and it shouldnt be this close.

I hope this is the end of Blackstarr in this poll. No way can they beat Tribe.

    @Maximus - Word, me too.

Before listening to A Tribe Called Quest I never gave hip hop much time, but they really made me respect hip hop and what it's all about and got me listening to more; now I listen to little else. But Tribe are the best, no doubt.

Being that you have to take body of work and impact into account, Tribe should take this

  • Gene Eats Coney - 10 years ago

How is this so close?!?!? Tribe is the greatest hip hop group of all time & I love the blackstar album.

Love Blackstar - dig into the meaning of the tournament: Body of work.

    Tribe wins.

Hahaha Bitter grown ups crying about Hip-Hop Bracket results on Jalenandjacoby.com are kinda sad

This shouldn't even be close. Anybody choosing Black Star has no clue what hip hop is...they may as well vote for Skee-lo! 5 albums that have flow and bars that rival few, versus 1 album with about half the tracks being dope. Black Star shouldn't even be in this whole thing. You should have had to make more than one album to qualify.
To all the people on the fence...set your pandora radio to tribe called quest tomorrow. No worries, you will be listening all day to some knowledge and hustle! The day after that, set your pandora to Black Star. No worries, you will be done by 10am!

    Tribe all day!

From the first time I heard Check the Rhime (I actually heard the smoothed out remix first!) I was hooked. Tribe fan for life.

Yea pretty much a easy vote, smh blackstar wasn't supposed to make it this far lol. Tribe wins on impact alone.

i liked being able to vote against Black Star out of spite. Long Live PE

I enjoyed this 3rd round vote the most! Black Star (and I own their one album!) had no business getting this far, but it ends here! Yo Tribe (I own all their shit too)!

IMO Beats Rhymes and Life is the most underrated hip hop album of all time. The production from J Dilla was awesome, Q Tips lyrics on the album are probably the most thought provoking he's ever done. Phyfe was as good as all ways. Consequence surprisingly had some pretty good bars on the album. A couple good hooks from some good singers and you have a really good album. Without a doubt Low End and Marauders, hell even Peoples Instinctive Travels are better albums. But Beats Rhymes and Life is what you would think of when you hear jazz rap. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's slightly darker than the others. But still an all round great album

that's just not true at all. i'm the biggest sucker for atcq, mainly because i LOVE their jazz vibe but 4th album shit on black star? cmon now. low end and marauders are better, but the rest nah.

  • bill hank - 10 years ago

Public Enemy would have been better competition for Tribe. Bad match-up for black star.

  • vora - 10 years ago

This had better end in ATCQ victory or I'll have lost my remaining faith in humanity.

  • Louvens - 10 years ago

Hey BlackStarrrrr. Thank you for the turkeyyyyy! Goodbye.

  • Brandon - 10 years ago

I have a lot of respect for Talib and Mos. But their one album isn't even as good as tribes 4th best albums. Tribes first 4 albums shit in Black Starr's album. Easy vote

  • AP - 10 years ago

Luckily white people like Tribe as much if not more than Black Star.

  • eDub - 10 years ago

I almost quit voting after Black Star took out EPMD, that was just to crazy for me. And then Public Enemy went down, I knew I had to stay and vote for whats right! We were robbed of an EPMD/PE show down, and that winner against Tribe. Looks like people are coming to their senses!!

Long live the Green Eyed Bandit and Mic Doc...

  • Sacdaddy - 10 years ago

Tribe please put an end to this black star madness

  • Hightower - 10 years ago

Black Star upsetting PE was ridiculous and embarrassing. Black Star had one album, and nobody actually likes Talib Kweli. Brutal.

  • Dr. Shabazz - 10 years ago

Okay, Black Star, this is where your reign of terror ends...
