I don't know why people are acting surprised...as soon as the bracket was made it was pretty obvious that it was gonna come down to Wu-Tang vs. Outkast in the finals...simply because they're the best.
Screw cultural importance or who came first and all that BS...Wu-Tang and Outkast are simply the best artists in this bracket.

There is a time and place to honor pioneers. This isn't it. I voted for Kast because I think they are the best. Thats not a slight to DMC for paving the way. Don't hate me because I think Eddie Murphy is funnier than Richard Pryor.

Just plain silly. If this was Outkast vs. Cypress Hill or N.W.A. then maybe.....maybe.....but Run DMC. C'mon. Give the people what they need! Run DMC. Outkast has tooo many singles. What?
You Be Illin, Rock Box, Jam Master Jay, It's Tricky, PETER PIPER, XMAS in Hollis, Sucker Mc's, Perfection, and on and on and on!

RUN DMC are the pioneers. They made the music that brought Hip-Hop to those people that later listened to Outcast. It would be close but three straight albums RUN DMC defined hip hop. This is like Coldplay beating the Beatles.

I respect and enjoy DMC. I voted for Outkast DESPITE thier radio singles. So Fresh and So Clean Sucks.Hey Ya is ok. You could make two albums of Outkast tracks that never made the radio that could be listened to straight through. ATLiens. Players Ball. Tha Art of Storytelling 1 & 2. Chonkeyfire. Red Velvet. Spoodieootiedopilicious. Ain't No Thang. Rooster. Elevators. All so unique and amazing. Marinate on that.

This is too tough because there would be no Outkast if it hadn't been for Run dmc. Run dmc's cultural impact and entertainment is one of a kind. Run dmc being the first hip hop artists on mtv, to working with rock artists, to helping "found" Def Jam.
Outkast is similar to Run dmc in that they both became more mainstream after there first album, however, Outkast has songs that are timeless. For real, you could take an Outkast song from 10-15 years ago and put it on the radio now and many people would bump it while not knowing that it's a bit of throwback. For that reason, I have to roll with Outkast...but truth be told, there is no Outkast without the original mainstream hip hop artists, Run DMC! There is no Def Jam Records without Run DMC! Now I'm second guessing myself! It's like choosing Jordan or Kobe...

@supervillian_T i disagree, outkast would thrash all of those groups excluding of course wu tang. Lyrically and creativity outkast is one of the best duos to ever do it. They always keep you interested with various subject matter, themes, and flows that i think were ahead of there time.

I think Outkast will win the entire tournament because of their abundance of radio singles, which are what shitty amateur critics think define "good" music. But they do not deserve to at all. They should have been a 5 seed at best. Don't get me wrong, I like the group (and in fact I am voting for them in this round), but count 19 other groups in the original bracket that are better. NWA, Wu Tang or Tribe should all crush them...but unfortunately the majority never chooses what is best. That's why the likes of Insane Clown Posse and Justin Bieber sell out tours.

Damn torn between Outkast and Run DMC. Run DMC when it comes to cultural relevance/importance and ingenuity hands down but I prefer Outkast.. hmmm

I really think Outkast is the dark horse to win this entire thing.

OutKast will win it all. Too many classic, too much commercial success. Too Many Grammies Too many AMAs. ATLiens (1996) Aquemini (1998) Are probably the best hip-hop ablums ever made.

This is by far the toughest. I'm gonna have to vote for Run because I know that Outkast will blow them out. Which is a shame
