If you have ever looked at the inside of the back half of an accident victims skull, and I have, you would realize the stupidity of your arguments. Your turban is a religious symbol, not a life saving device, period!
If you ever convince the Ontario government to grant you this exemption, the insurance industry, including OHIP would cancel any coverage.

Turban is the blessed crown of Guru Maharaj. It resembles our Sikhi Pride and the glories of our brave history, when in the battle field we didn't wear helmets fighting all the way against Aurangjeb army even that was most fearful and dangerous situation, The Turban saved us, it is our pride, glory and our protectee then how the hell any road safety issue come in between our.pride.
Ontario govt you are requested to grow up. You are not restricting Sikh to wear Turban while driving, you are stopping us to practice our religion n religious activities.

Turban it self is a safety gear. Turban doesn't heart any body being soft cloth whereas helmet is made of hard substance can injure some one. Now the question is if the person wearing helmet does not die in a motor cycle accident ? Helmet is NOT necessarily be imposed on the SIKH wearing a turban . So in netshell NO NO

Guys, Im from Punjab India. So i Know about the Turban's Importance. The question is regarding the safety of a person's life. nobody is saying turban does not symbolize religion but it can not be treated as a safe precaution. Guru Gobind Singh ji constituted KHALSA panth and ordered only a Khalsa Is a SINGH. I was a sikh history student so i know this. A helmet has toggle clamps that prevents removal of helmet when a person meets an accident. Turbans are lose and falls almost instantly as soon as they are jerked. SO it can not be treated as safety helmets. and stop calling it as one. its religious symbol. the question here does not only concern a sikh but also the other people on road. so whether drive a horse (AS THERE USED TO BE WHEN TURBANS WERE GIVEN TO COMMUNITY) or drive slowly. we speed and than we say turbans will save us. don's mix emotions into safety. we have a rule here that ONLY 7 METER LONG TURBAN CAN BE REPLACED AS A HELMET. well, i have read the comments. and i don;t think you guys are gonna listen based on anger you have. and this voting is for ontario. so indians and any other country member, kindly don't vote. we don't know the circumstances. moreover, as GURDAS MAN once said JEHDE DESH DA KHAIYE USDA BURA NI BHANNI DA. be a sikh first than talk about religion and we are so and so.. thanks

Turban doesn't hurt other people and doesn't create accident. So Turban should be allowed. Some say that Turban is not safe for driver, anyway motorcycle is dangerous and are not safe. So many people dye wearing helmet. People want take risk, let them do.
Some say that OHIP should not cover for Turban wearing, but I would say, what about medical expenses that OHIP pays for people doing Drugs and people who don't care about their health.
Think about everybody's feelings. Everybody is Canadian. Wearing Turban doesn't affect anybody's freedom.
Sikhs wear a self designed helmet 24/7.. it is called the TURBAN :)

Here in the Uk Sikhs are allowed to wear a turban and ride a motorbike...Sikhs have lived in the Uk for many years and to be honest you don't see many turban wearing Sikhs riding motorbikes. Each must make their own assessment on if they wish to or not ride a motorbike...I am a turban wearing Sikh and my only point would be that laws on helmets are only recent phenomenon, turbans have been around for centuries not just for Sikhs but for many cultures..next governments will be saying you can only ride a horse with a helmet on!!!lany person riding a motorbike should sign a disclaimer taking full responsibility for not wearing a helmet...unfortunately in these days laws are overtaking people's identity and cultures and this should for obvious reasons be challenged via the appropriate authorities...

Guys, Im from Punjab India. So i Know about the Turban's Importance. The question is regarding the safety of a person's life. nobody is saying turban does not symbolize religion but it can not be treated as a safe precaution. Guru Gobind Singh ji constituted KHALSA panth and ordered only a Khalsa Is a SINGH. I was a sikh history student so i know this. A helmet has toggle clamps that prevents removal of helmet when a person meets an accident. Turbans are lose and falls almost instantly as soon as they are jerked. SO it can not be treated as safety helmets. and stop calling it as one. its religious symbol. the question here does not only concern a sikh but also the other people on road. so whether drive a horse (AS THERE USED TO BE WHEN TURBANS WERE GIVEN TO COMMUNITY) or drive slowly. we speed and than we say turbans will save us. don's mix emotions into safety. we have a rule here that ONLY 7 METER LONG TURBAN CAN BE REPLACED AS A HELMET. well, i have read the comments. and i don;t think you guys are gonna listen based on anger you have. and this voting is for ontario. so indians and any other country member, kindly don't vote. we don't know the circumstances. moreover, as GURDAS MAN once said JEHDE DESH DA KHAIYE USDA BURA NI BHANNI DA. be a sikh first than talk about religion and we are so and so.. thanks

Turban doesn't hurt other people and doesn't create accident. So Turban should be allowed. Some say that Turban is not safe for driver, anyway motorcycle is dangerous and are not safe. So many people dye wearing helmet. People want take risk, let them do.
Some say that OHIP should not cover for Turban wearing, but I would say, what about medical expenses that OHIP pays for people doing Drugs and people who don't care about their health.
Think about everybody's feelings. Everybody is Canadian. Wearing Turban doesn't affect anybody's freedom.

Here in the Uk Sikhs are allowed to wear a turban and ride a motorbike...Sikhs have lived in the Uk for many years and to be honest you don't see many turban wearing Sikhs riding motorbikes. Each must make their own assessment on if they wish to or not ride a motorbike...I am a turban wearing Sikh and my only point would be that laws on helmets are only recent phenomenon, turbans have been around for centuries not just for Sikhs but for many cultures..next governments will be saying you can only ride a horse with a helmet on!!!lany person riding a motorbike should sign a disclaimer taking full responsibility for not wearing a helmet...unfortunately in these days laws are overtaking people's identity and cultures and this should for obvious reasons be challenged via the appropriate authorities...
