What is your opinion of increasing housing density in Southwest Austin?

Why is south Austin getting to be the new dumping ground for Austin - now that east Austin is getting up-scaled? Within a 15 minute walk from my house I pass FIVE group facilities that have bought out existing houses - one for teens, one a live-in facility for disabled adults and three are day-care facilities for disabled adults. Can't these facilities be spread around the city rather than replacing a whole neighborhood?

Increasing affordability by building dense housing is nice way of saying we are creating the slums of tomorrow and we put profit before people. We all deserve green space - even poor people. Let's build "affordable" dense housing all over the city in small clumps - not just dump it all into south Austin. And lets require green space within these affordable dense housing areas so all residents love and appreciate their living space and see it as a place to enjoy coming home to and a place to relax. Besides, the rent charged for an apartment or the price charged for a house is based on what the market will bear, it is not based on the cost of building a housing unit. "Affordable" dense housing just gives more profit to the builders and owners. South Austin deserves better than this.
