Should the development review process be simplified to enable faster approval times for projects?

    That's a fairly simplistic question for a very complex set of issues. Clearly, developers want to "take whatever steps are necessary" to maximize their profits. However, an increase in efficiency together with boards and commissions that listen and respond to citizen input (not necessarily limited to neighborhood associations) would do more to improve the current system. Interesting that the hired consultants are to talk to "stake holders," which do not seem to include citizens who don't have a direct financial "stake." There are many kinds of stakes, which I wish our current city managers and council would acknowledge.
