Apple and Epic worry me - anyone who really understands the medical information ecosystem should be concerned when 2 mega companies describe how our medical information should be delivered.
We need an open method for sharing our patient data.

Apple is extremely good at creating easy user interfaces. Assuming that is reflected in health records apps' data collection and display, they could become successful for end-user facing apps. However, Apple's closed ecology will inhibit integration with other vendors' systems. So "some influence" it is unless Apple opens-up more.

Apple is the baby boomer tool of choice. Consumers, aka activated, engaged patients are growing in number and power and will adopt tools that enable/enhance their power. Apple wants to be that tool vendor and is the first major (well maybe Nike, but they're giving up) consumer brand to offer a mostly complete as it is tool set. I think their presence is important and I think the hospitals still don't get it--with a small number of notable exceptions.
