Do you think politicians will be able to come together to avoid a government shutdown?

I thnk a resolution to fund the portion of the govt not automatically funded will be passed to forestall any shutdown. One must remember though, the nonessential portions of the govt shutdown regularly and on schedule. It's called the weekend. All the little bureaucrats take their regulations and oversight and go home to bbqs and lawnmowers for two glorious days out of seven, and shockingly the country survives. No EPA or Dept of Energy or Education anywhere in sight. I think of it as a reward for the previous 5 days. If we could only come up with a way of rewarding ourselves more often, yet keep open the Nat'l Parks. That seemed to draw the most ire last time. Harry Reid and Obama turning vets away from the WWII memorial was quite disgraceful. Of course they let illegal aliens onto the National Mall for a rally, but that's another story.

Yes, the govt will stay open. We can't have bureaucrats sitting at home with nothing to do. They might get in trouble-

Oh, I guess they do that at work on our dime.

Yes, that is if Harry Reid will allow a bill from the House to even be considered on the Senate floor. The last shutdown was caused by Harry Reid, with the blessing of every Democrat, by not even considering the numerous bills to fund the government sent over to them from the House.

The shutdown is laid right at the Senate Majority's feet, and without the rest of the Democrats pushing for the bill to be read and entered on the floor. (But the political hardline Democrats will never admit that. Nothing coming from the Republicans will pass their chamber.)
