Which Derek Jeter retirement Ad is better?

In the circumstances, it feels as though they've hit doubles rather than homers.

Gatorade hangs together, but story and soundtrack feel rather obvious & expected.

I wonder if Nike would be stronger for being shorter. I may miss some of the local nuances, but I enjoy the begrudging Red Sox fans and pixellated Mets and suggest that any sports fan will understand that respect for Derek Jeter trancends the strongest of tribal allegiances.

If pushed off the fence, Nike wins in extra innings.

As much as the ad depends on the target audience, there's a lot to say about the PURPOSE of the ads. For both the fans and their beloved star, it's a parting moment od sorts (which of course involves a lot of emotions). So the play on emotions can't be over-emphasized. Moreover, Gatorade was able to hold the focus on Derek throughout the ad without coming across as boring. The Nike ad was great for sure, but I think Gatorade was better.

I think depends on the target audience for the ads... The gatorade ad is more emotive for sure but in my opinion, in an obvious or expected way. The nike ad is more edgy that says respect the no 2. I see that re2pect logo being widely commerciallised and therefore monetised.

Was already to vote for a great Nike ad - however the lump in my throat - after Gatorade changed my mind.
Not taking anything away from Nike but the second one "hit it out of the park".

Both ads are great but the Gatorade ad is more emotive, with the choice of music and Derek Jeter being the focus of each scene. His greatness is also portrayed in his connecting with everyday people in a personal way which evokes the thought in the viewer, "that could have been me having that moment with Derek Jeter!"
