Is it hypocritical, based on religious values spelled out in the Bible, for wedding chapels to refuse to marry same sex couples?

I listen to your program on my way home from work and am usually not in a position to call in. So i wanted to take a moment to comment on the subject of individual rights as pertains to gay marriage. What has been lost in this conversation is the very definition of individual rights.

A right is innate. A right cannot be given by the people. An individual right can only recognized, and does not require the actions of any other person. To force one person to act, under color of law, to provide something (whether a service or product) to another is inherently dangerous in that, by forcing an action, an individual right of that person may be abridged.

The right to bear arms does not mean that someone may be forced to provide you with a gun.

The right to a free press does not mean someone may be forced to provide you with a printing press.

The right to assemble does not mean someone may be forced to provide you with a podium.

And the "right" to gay marriage does not mean that someone may be forced to provide you with a wedding.

It is distressing that the definition of individual rights has been so corrupted, that a crusading mob may trample the very foundations of individual liberty. I hope you can bring this part of the discussion to light.

    Best regards
    Richard Kimmell
