This study is a total disservice to men. CBC should not have broadcast-ed this. For me, PSA Testing proved to be a life saver. From age 55 my PSA was trending up. This resulted in a biopsy and, me being diagnosed with prostate cancer.I had surgery followed by radiation & hormone therapy. This is 6 years ago now. I had nasty disease with nasty prognosis. Without the test, I would have been a dead man now. As a physician I have seen a lot of young people die of prostate cancer who did not get PSA's done!! A PSA Test should be an integral part of annual physical check up. They would not do away with mammograms which are even less reliable than PSA's.

Having regular PSA Tests resulted directly in my being diagnosed with prostate cancer. It is the trend of the tests rather than the actual number derived from each individual test. Regular testing indicated a trend of increase each time the test was administered, over a period of about five years. That prompted a biopsy to be performed which resulted in a positive diagnosis. For me, PSA Testing proved to be a life saver. I have had treatment, and have been cancer free for just over a year now. I thank my doctor for ensuring that I had a PSA Test as an integral part of my annual physical check up.
