EW's choices are refreshingly excellent, as are the ones mentioned in the comments so far. I completely agree that leaving out Christopher Lee is a terrible oversight. But my overall favorite is Interview with the Vampire. Byzantium and Only Lovers Left Alive are two very strong newcomers. By the way, I rather liked the Fright Night remake, too!

Those are all great choices, but my all-time favorite is and always will be Fright Night. Funny, scary, and dead sexy vampire Jerry Dandridge played by Chris Sarandon? What's not to love?

Salem's Lot. I didn't even have to think twice about this choice. And I read the book first which was just as frightening!

The original "Salem's Lot" TV movie scared the crap out of me as a kid!

Good choices but not to mention Christopher Lee in his first outing "Horror of Dracula" is unforgivable. Great atmosphere, first technicolour Count and Lee epitomises the aristocratic, sexy bloodsucker to perfection. I " stake" my claim that it should definitely be in there instead of "Thirst".
