Time and again, this foolish notion of banning studded tires is being pushed by the knee jerk feel good crowd. Throwing out safer options to drive is insane. The reasons thrown around for their proposal, such as supposed tearing up the road or creating the troughs while driving has been repeatedly debunked as it comes down to the large semis with their immense weight, 18 wheels and sitting in stop and go traffic. The fact that our DOT doesn't operate on congestion reduction, i.e. additional lanes of travel which would alleviate much of the road wear, they look to lay blame elsewhere instead of themselves.
