All people should have the right to bear arms!! Ive seen cases where people are defending their own home and family and are charged with a felony. Then bullied into pleading guilty so they don't go to jail and lose everything they have. Probation for 5 years to gun rights. B!S! If you don't commit a crime with a gun a gun should not be thrown into the mix period. Real criminals don't buy a gun at the sporting good store anyway and don't care if they have the right to carry it. They will just shot you rape your wife and daughter then kill them. You shouldn't even have to register your firearms. Gov control is out of control!!!! Robert Wyatt your an uninformed knuckle head!
Certainly people should be allowed an appeal process. Some time should pass after the conviction and then the individual should be allowed to appeal to regain his/her right to protect themselves but only if they have been a law-abiding member of society.
In a case such as the one Mark writes about, the ignoramus that prosecuted the veteran should have his rights revoked. Somebody that stupid should not have a gun.

Robert Wyatt, You should be executed to stupid idiot. While living in St. Cloud, MN my neighbor was hospitalized for heart issues. He was hospitalized for months. While hospitalized his Social Security benefits were canceled without his knowledge. Checks were written during this time to cover bills. Some of these checks bounced. One check was for $34.00 the other for $17.00. You can be charged with a felony if two bad checks are written on the same account no matter the amount. None of the businesses receiving a check filed a complaint. the county attorney was an ass. He was charged with a felony for $51.00. He then lost his rite to own firearms. This individual had three purple hearts, silver and bronze star. this does not seem just. Many individuals are railroaded by our court systems on felony charges that are bogus. If it is a none violent crime you should still have the rite to own firearms.
