this poll isn't rigged , you just had more jsu fans to vote. respect each others opinion. it ain't that serious. My opinion is that su and jsu are great bands but Southern is on another level. both take their music seriously and have rich traditions. if you don't like something don't watch it. someone stated that jsu was disciplined, but thats not what I've witnessed when I've seen them in person. su and jsu have thug behavior in their band, and so does other bands. try appreciating each others band programs for what they are, there are enough outsiders bad mouthing them.......so why are we doing the same ? don't forget why hbcu's even exist. #lovehbcus

THE FACTS
To Joe Smith and other SU fans - First let me say that Jackson State and Southern have very good bands in my opinion. To say otherwise is not being honest. I can see why JSU fans think the Boom is #1 and SU fans think the Jukebox is #1. Judging bands is such a subjective art; we are both probably a little bit biased (lol). No one performance or poll can really be used to determine who has the better band. But when you look at numerous performances and polls, it is quite clear that the majority of band fans (not just JSU and SU fans) agree that JSU is the #1 HBCU band and one of the top 10 bands in the entire country. Like I said earlier, Southern is very good, but they are no JSU!!!!!

I'm a proud alumnus of SC State...Home of the Marching 101. Of course, I will give my band my vote! But, why did Norfolk State Spartan Legion get snubbed here??? Didn't they deserve at least a spot in this poll???
And another thing why you Su fans keep throwing this BOTB all around in the air. What about the game? Oh that's right cause JSU ate SU for breakfast lunch and dinner. I guess it was easier to try to claim the BOTB because of the acoustic issues sound bouncing everywhere, I guess u thought SU was louder in there.
Let me set the record straight about this Boombox BOTB. Neither JSU or SU wanted to have this gym battle. But JSU 's fourth director Dr.Sandford "one of SU alums" wanted to have this battle because he wanted to cancel the pre-game and the 5th quarter. So he involved both schools getting money from it, which Su highly needed, so they both agreed to doing it.

The Boom took the Jukebox to school in October with better arrangements, sound, drilling and musicality! No contest! The Boom just overpowered the Jukebox! The Jukebox was just overpowered with the Boom size and sound, bottom line.
We someone say something nice about Southern before Joe Smith has a stroke. Well it want be me, Instead of worrying about who slayed who should be worried about their transcript and grade cheating scandal, focused on why they are in the top 25 of university's with the worst graduation rates (20%), worry why they only have a 5% retention rate of students going from sophomores to seniors. Of all the SWAC schools to make Forbes top colleges and Universities of 2014 SU was not even on the list, but guess who if you said Jackson State and Texas Southern you are correct. @Dr Morow - No, I don't have to convince myself that the Human Jukebox slayed JSWho all Boombox Classic weekend long. Game included! I was in Jackson and I witnessed it all! Get out of your feelings...YOU seem to not want to get it. Word on the street is that JSWho asked for the 2014 Boombox Classic BOTB, so why is it just a little gym battle now??? First let me say I am a supporter of the Showtime band, HU. Those folks from SU look bragging about their average band, i had the chance to attend the bayou classic in 2013 and two word describes SU bands, Thuggish band, and the so called band director was the biggest thug it is ashame to see how a once middle of the road band has fallen. Good luck to all the school taking part in the Honda, HU you know!

@Cindy Ross - here's the answer to your question. The su band directors are being discussed here because your fans love to boast about them. Lets remember, all stadiums have eye witnesses ranging in age from Children to Adults to Senior Citizens. All of these fans have seen how "hood" and disrespectful the directors at su are. Are the directors at su adults or are they children. No level of professionalism. This may also be due to the fact that they are fairly young in age. So that War time mentality that you speak of just looks like over excited thug blasting horns.

I'm a Southern man and I don't believe this poll is rigged. JSU band and fans just voting more than the rest and that's what you call fight and loyalty to the end. I don't know when the polling ends, and if it has a while to go then it isn't over. If it ends soon then congrats JSU. I expected SU and JSU to be among the top 2 because they are the top HBCU bands PERIOD!

The Boom just went back to practice today. I know this because i just took my daughter and nephew a few hours ago. su, on the other hand, started their rehearsals before us. I'm so excited to see all of the shows @ the Honda this year. I just wanted to point out to the person who raised some opinionated points about JSU's votes; we have a very strong alumni and we support all entities at our university whenever we're in any type of contest. My little sister (bless tht poe baby's heart) & her husband are su alums. They didn't even know anything about this contest. Our alums were in informed, & yes, we along with people from all over the place, have been voting for Da Boom. I'm a Boom ole head, so you know tht we've been supporting our own....especially over the Christmas Holiday Season. :-) Keep y'all's heads up! Friendly competition, is good competition! #LUVDABOOM

It ain't that important or serious. And like no one is spreading the word about this poll in Baton Rouge or LA. Again man please!!!!! Unlike SU the majority of the Boom members are not from Jackson or MS. So those kids arent even in MS and they won't be until Friday. And secondly SU has members who live in Jackson and MS. And lastly I was at the Boom Box classic and all SU did was act a bigger fool than the Boom. Running in the stands cymbal players running out the stands Tuba players stumping on the floor and playing past the number and of songs agreed upon in the contract and showed up late. To Me, If only you could leave professional judges at the battle. And not just an Audience who base their vote because a band played their favorite song, then it would be a true battle. But I think they should add Stand Battles - Its more entertaining, competitive, and that's the real battle as well. I'm not telling yall what school im from, but im from a band where Tradition is important.

As for participation is concerned, I dont think this poll is rigged. JSU and SU are probably the biggest competitors in all HBCU. Also, these 2 schools have the largest following and traveling fans than any. So them 2 being at the top is not far fetched. Its hard to see that Bcu or Famu is not doing so well, but its not because of their performance. Its because their fans are not as active (voting) like these cocky Swac fans lol.

Sounds to me like Spence is butt hurt because his school isn't one of the top. There is always that one group of people that cry about shit being rigged because their poo butt, sorry ass school don't win.
To be honest I think both schools Su and Jsu are doing it @spence. Because both schools are running neck and neck. The two school are in so much competition with each other til I believe that if there was a sex contest between those to schools they would be competing.
Okay, so...I did a bit of research, and concluded that this poll is, in fact, rigged. The creator of the poll only allotted IP addresses one vote per day. I concluded this by changing my IP address, and then voting. Only then will you see a change in the total number of votes after you place your own vote(take in mind that other people are "voting" too, so if you do see a change, it may be because of that). After I changed my IP address several times and voted, the total number of votes went up by one each time. There is no way the schools who so far have received the most votes to have that number of votes so quickly. I say that, because JSU's count, for example, went up by 300+ in a few short hours, while I voted, without changing my ip address, over 100 times simultaneously, and my school's count only went up by 3. While I don't doubt the popularity of JSU, I just don't see them receiving those amount of votes this rapidly; especially, considering this is the holidays, and students are at home occupied with family and other things. I didn't mean to go all Sherlock Holmes on you guys, but fair is fair, right is right and wrong is wrong. If you're gonna have a poll that includes HBCU marching bands, many of whom have a very rich history, do it so that is is not biased and seeded in corruption. Let's say you have 100 people voting once a day for a week, which is about how long this poll has been alive. That's only 700 votes. Rev that number up to 300 people voting once per day for a week. That's 2100 votes. Rev it up one more time to 500 people voting once per day for a week. That's 3500. 800+ people voting once per day would give you about 5600+ votes. Like, I said, I don't doubt JSU's popularity, but I just don't see 800+ people coming on HBCU buzz, during Christmas, to vote once a day for their favorite bad. Call me cynical, but I just don't see it. Some of you may say, "Oh it's just a stupid, superficial band poll", and you're entitled to your opinion, but I just think it's messed up to mislead people. But anyway...Vote away!
