Two Leaf fans tossed their jerseys on the ice and could face two years in jail. Do you think the mischief charges are too harsh?

Hopefully a player never gets a hat trick again. There will be lots of people pulled from ACC. LOL!

Even though I am a disappointed Maple Leaf fan of late, I believe the when a person throws a jersey on the ice, they should be given a fine and banned from attending any MLSE event for any amount of time, but jail time for up to two years.

Watching your coverage of this story on Citynews at Six, Tuesday, January 20/15, I was very taken aback when Avery Hanes was talking to a scalper who sells 'season ticker holders' their tickets for individual games. Why on earth would someone who can afford to buy season tickets, and then sell tickets for individual games?! Now THAT is criminal.

Two years jail time, your got to be kidding me. Who are you? Issis! The Toronto Maple Leafs should apologise to these fans. An over reaction? Maybe. Frustration? Yes. But this organization is a joke. These guys are making millions, and I am not just talking about the players. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I am ashamed of you. Not often do I get angry, but you, MLSE, sickened me. It's not your game, it's mine. It belongs to the fans that made it. Who the hell do you think you are? Get over yourself.

If you want to protest by throwing your jersey on the ice, fine, but DON'T do while the play is ongoing, someone could get seriously hurt that way! It is just an idiotic thing to do. Also, must be nice to be able to afford to throw away a pretty pricy item...

How can the police honestly waste their time with mischief charges when there are so many other issues to be taken seriously.

I think the ticket holders should sue the team for failure to fulfill their commitment to provide professional sports play.

It may be disrespectful, but not a crime. We have freedom of speech in Canada. All the fans who pay ALOT of money for tickets are being robbed. If my job performance was like the Leaf players, I would be fired.

The Leafs took my money and promised to put a team on the ice. Then they failed to deliver! That my friend is a crime!

Okay folks.... would the outcome be the same if the Leafs scored a goal and/or won the game and the fans threw roses on the ice.... just saying.....

Its punishment enough that they spent good money for these jerseys. Knowing the Leafs they will probably clean them and put them back into circulation.

This is not public mischief, this is Maple Leafs mischief (which they are fully deserved).
So this is not criminal offense.

Hats are thrown during stoppage of play after the goal and picked up before play resumes

2 years jail time for the Leafs players if they lose again, that makes more sense IMO.

But its okay to throw hats on the ice when someone gets a hat trick, oh wait we talking bout the Leafs, but seriously get real!!

Honestly, we let murderers and drunk drivers out of jail. Their crimes are far worse than throwing a jersey on the ice.

Throwing a sweater on the ice during play is totally different than after the game. A player unawares of the sweater or skating backwards could face severe injuries during an unexpected fall, one that could even impinge on their further careers. Two years for a mischief charge is the most serious penalty while most cases in court wind up with a fine of some sort. I totally agree with the mischief charges when these events happen during play to deter personal injury and keep others from following suit that may result in these injuries.

Really? 2 Years....good deterrent but maybe they should try that with drunk driving or texting and driving or something really important....remember the days when they could toss a squid on the ice and nobody batted an eye, Hockey is a joke anymore, overpaid crybabies, I don't get why people bother going to the games at all, pretty sure that would send a more powerful message than 2 shirts on the ice...

The leafs players are disrespectable to the Jerseys not the fans.
Salaries should be based on quality of talent not someone who has a one year wonder.

jail should be reserved for real criminals. not frustrated leaf fans.
