I voted yes because it seems obvious to me that a burial ground should be off the hands of individuals and not be desecrated ,that the violation of first nations rights need to be recognised and compensated .
AND actually the land should be returned to the first nation who care for their ancestors not the island conservancy. We will be one step ahead from the old model of "infantilisation " of first nations by the white conquerer.

I cannot understand why anyone would say it was not a good idea to settle this incredibly immoral, unfair and illegal action that totally disregards and disrespects treating our First Nations brothers and sisters just as wel would like to be treated. Although I always considered myself to be understanding and compassionate towards all peoples, participating and taking the time to get a closer look at the Grace Islet situation, I disovered a long history of unfair, abusive, unethical and often violent actions towards them. I also discovered how I was not fully aware of my own lack of understanding of how dysfunctional it is or the degree of imbedded racism that exists in certain circles. There has been way too much stereotyping of First NAtions people that gets glossed over too easily. I and any others are very encouraged that society in general is slowly but surely starting to stand up and very proud of the support over these last 7 months and content with the decision of the BC Government to take some responsibility and good leadership.
