Everett and Snohomish County are at odds over a new courthouse. Who needs to budge?

    Accessing various departments is difficult downtown Everett. An outlying civic center in perhaps an industrial area could relieve congestion and cost considerably less. It could be in a readily accessible area, say just off I-5 or highway 2.

    The county council was repeatedly asked to slow down and think, and was warned numerous times that there would be cost over-runs. Yet, the county was hell-bent on pushing through the new courthouse, hoping reality would match their pipe dream. As usual, reality wins, but it also shows that politicians don't care about wasting taxpayer money or distrusting et private economic lives of its citizens. As one of the building owners who was sued by the county and forced to sell and move, this news is sickening, but not surprising. As a tax payer, I'm embarrassed by the incompetence of the county council. As a former owner of a condemned building, I would have loved to have stayed in my bui
