There's plenty of housing available. Lets put a time limit on housing for the "non-seniors" (those capable of working and getting their own place, not one subsidized by taxpayers) and that should open up a few places.

It would be nice to have more senior housing available; but, it should be for seniors only. My mother lives in a senior complex that has too many younger people on disability, partying, drinking, and smoking pot just outside of her apartment. Sometimes she is afraid to go outside. The sheriff's office is called every other thing. There is almost always some commotion going on. It shouldn't be this way!

This state needs to focus on bringing more business in to generate more good jobs and solid revenue. There is always a need for a new program but they must be paid for and the taxes along with energy costs are keeping business away. Maybe grown children should take care of their parents and bring them into their own home.

I agree with the comment from Shirley. That is ridiculous to wait 5 yrs or more. Another comment I liked, each Town build Senior Homes for their Elderly. I can't imagine not being able to afford housing, food, clothing, heat, gas, and all the taxes on top of this all. Help the Elderly! Go Maine! : )

There is a huge need for housing no matter what age. There needs to be places for people to live that they can afford. Its so sad to see so many people go without just because they don't have enough money for rent and monthly bills.

I am now in the process of trying to get into senior housing, in Bangor, and am finding it very discouraging! Most places have waiting lists, some as long as a 3 year wait! In order to get a Section 8 voucher, you must get on a list where the wait is up to 5 years - right now, they are awarding vouchers to people who got on the list in 2011! We need to contact our representatives in Augusta to let them know we seniors need more available housing without having to wait years!
