Which plan of action do you recommend?

Call the brand's repairman (in this case Kenmore). Even if the appliance is old, they should be able to fix it. For a fee.

Just hire a regular plumber. They should be able to take care of the problem.

Buy a new dishwasher. As appliances go, they don't last very long.

Buy all new appliances. At least this way everything will be up to date and will match.

Get off your ass and get on with remodeling the kitchen!
