For those who say no one forced you to join no one should its for love of country and are brave enough to raise our hand and take the oath cause most people won't do it I took it and what y'all are saying is because we took it and defend your right to you couldn't say what you wanted without the men and women now and before if a 18 19 or 20 year old soldier wants a drink with dinner give it to them cause you don't know if they have deployed what sacrifices they have made if you see a 20 year old vet missing a leg or arm do to their service to our country who are you to say they can't have a drink especially if you haven't served cause they have done more for their country than you have if they can put on the uniform and sign for a paycheck payable to their life they should be able to have a beer and for all you naysayers walk in their shoes but I bet most that read this will not because you can't and to those serving or have severed thank you not to many have taken the oath we have

I wonder how many 18 year old voted on this poll it should stay 21 or they are trying to recruit more young people into the military. We have enough accidents on the road with DWI. If they allow drinking for 18 it should be on the base not in the public view. On the other hand other 18 years will try to change the law to lower the drinking age. In just my view I don't think this is a good idea.

21 means 21. They can wait just like every other American patriot not involved in occupying other countries against their will and actually contributing to society in a positive way.... I'm all for the military protecting the US but we use it so poorly

Alcohol is a top killer for young people. And Mary J is illegal and kills no one. I can't go 30 seconds of nfl or orioles games without the drug pusher alcohol companies flooding my tv. We have got to get our priorities straight in this country...

Fuck that they can wait there should be no special treatment for joining it should be just cause you want to serve. No one made you join military it was your choice so you can wait like everyone

Steve, amen. Alcohol is way worse then marijuana. Think about this. How many deaths caused by alcohol? How many deaths cause by marijuana?

They should wait like everyone else. No one forced them to join.

People want to lower drinking age and cause more negative outcomes (dui, alch poisoning, deaths caused by dui) but someone smokes a joint and their a criminal

While on active duty in the USAF during Vietnam, at 19 I was allowed to drink on base or in the field, but not at civilian bars in town, even though most civilan bars would serve you if you were in uniform. This held true in the different States I was in and over seas.

BUT, only if they're on active duty, not serving a reservist who isn't on active duty. If they get discharged before they're 21, then they have to obey the civilian drinking age. If you're old enough to die for our country, you're old enough to drink.
