Should Maine's minimum wage be raised to $12 dollars an hour?

I pay my workers 12/hour because it's the right thing to do. My business only netted 6,000 last year, but even so I will pay the 12/hour. Yes my workers make more than I do and that's ok. I appreciate them and wish I could pay them more. I would rather die driving an old beat up pickup truck and knowing that I treated people fairly so if I can do it, why couldn't any other business do it?

NO! Small businesses are struggling to make ends meet. Raising the minimum wage will endanger more small businesses, encourage large corporations to offer more part-time and less full-time jobs, and put the prices of goods even higher. It is a vicious cycle!

I've been around a long time, and witnessed pay raises many times. After a pay raise ,everything goes up in price. So what have we gained? The biggest problem is for the people who are on a limited budget,as in Social Security. They can hardly make ends met now. As a business owner myself I know what I can afford to pay my worker's. If they show me that they want to work for the company ,then I pay them more.

By all means raise it, for one merchants can afford it more than they let on. of course paying more means more money going back into the local economy. BUT if this minimum wage is going to keep going up we must as a people, make a very strong effort to buying as much as possible goods made within the state of Maine and America. Paying out more is fine but that dollar must stay locally to build the local financial structure.

My daughter makes 12.00 an hour, and collects from the money from the state. No one can live now days on 12.00 an hour, anymore than they could on 10.00 an hour. What use is it to raise min. wage, and reduce the number of jobs, and everyone collect from the state. Besides not being able to live on 12.00 an hour, a lot of state officials will think 12.00 will make you rich, and take away state aid.
