one I will never forget. When told that they had discussed it and if they had a boy he would be raised Jewish, if they had a girl she would be raised in her Mother's religion, my Mother said, "You cannot raise
a house divided". Wise lady.

I chose Choose Jewish, but not for the reason given. First, their child will be Rabbinically Jewish at birth. Second, I am a firm believer that one is Jewish in community, so one needs to grow up being part of that comminity. Third, one can participate in the non-Jewish celebrations without having to accept the religious beliefs of those events. I am Jewish, raised Jewish, but I helped my inter-faith friend decorate the family Christmas tree. I did not have to believe anything to do with Christianity to do that. Fourth, a child is not capable of chosing, whereas an adult is. At some point the child will make their own choices.
