Should classrooms propose laws to state legislatures?

Our students don't need to act as conduits for what teachers and parents want the legislators to hear. Our students need to know how to create an intelligent and legible paragraph, to balance a check book, to recognize and appreciate good music, and to change the oil in their family vehicle. Classrooms should focus on teaching kids what they need to know in order to survive.

Of course, maybe they will listen to them, they sure don't listen to the voters!
