    Complete the entire Southwest Bypass:
After reading about the proposed $105 Million bond issue, I would question some of the assumptions about the transportation plan. While the “ improved D.B. Wood Road” brings new traffic from Williams Drive, it would add to the bottle neck already created at D.B. Wood and West University (Hwy 29).It would also create a bottleneck going North on D.B. Wood road from Oak Ridge to Lake Overlook until the planning and funding is approved to make that section four lanes. West University already backs up from I-35 to Wolf Ranch Parkway. The additional traffic from Williams Dr., the additional new business at and across from Wolf Ranch, and home development on West University (Hwy 29) West of D.B. Wood, will create the same problem we now have East of I-35 on East University, where traffic heading West backs up for miles. The more than $18 million could be better spent on extending the Southwest Bypass North of Hwy 29 (West of D. B. Wood Rd. behind the residential areas) to Cedar Breaks Rd. This Bypass has already been proposed and is in the early stages of planning. With this, many safety concerns would be addressed, traffic from and to Williams Dr. would have better access to I-35 without traveling past Wolf Ranch. In addition traffic on Hwy 29 would have better access to Williams Drive and I-35. In addition, there would be no impact on the neighborhoods and homes East and West of D. B. Wood Rd, where the widening is proposed. Let’s not spend $18 million and more, on a band aid solution, to address current and future growth and its resulting traffic.
