The Legislature is considering limiting state income tax deductions. Do you agree?
Yes: We need the money now to fund important programs and this will bring in about $33 million to help out.
Yes: Many states do it or are doing it. Deductions have gotten more generous on the federal side over time and the state is losing out.
Yes: It's unfair to make cuts just to coddle very fortunate people because we fear they'll take their ball and go to Florida.
No: Vermont charities could suffer from lower donations because of this, which will only hurt the people we're trying to help.
No: While wealthier taxpayers can afford it, they can also afford to move out of state.
No: The top end of the income bracket pays more already and this makes the tax structure simply unfair.
