Phantom, there hasn't been a guy that's come into the league in the past 8 years that is the next "Lucic." He is the rarest form of player in the NHL. A guy who can pop in 30 goals and kick the living crap out of anyone around. Only the 4th line enforcers who don't dress every game can even hold their own against this guy. Imagine him playing in a system that isn't defense oriented. He barely ever even played on the power play in Boston, so those 25-30 goals he was averaging not withstanding last year were mainly even strength goals.

Not very Realistic, man! Lucic plays in a defense first system under Claude Julien. He was averaging 27 goals a year over the last 3 full seasons prior to last year & not counting the lockout, Last year, with Iginla gone and Krejci out half the season, Lucic was playing with 2 rookies, 1 of whom was the youngest guy in the NHL, and his production suffered.
On a team with a more free flowing offense, Lucic can pot 30 again, and be a 100 PIM guy that scares the beejezus out of everyone in the league who isn't a complete goon. When he is in LA this year playing with Gaborik and Kopitar, watch how much room he creates, and watch how many goals he gets from the front of the cage. Nobody is going to be able move him.

The oilers have no interest in a 6 million dollar grinder. Lucic is the best grinder, sure. We don't need tough guys that can score and eat up cap space, we need tough guys. The fact that the pole suggests we would offer anything above a bag of pucks is insulting, especially since this would be a one year rental. We need cap space for D and G, not fancy nut-slashing 20 goal scorers.

Bruins likely will only trade lucic in a hockey deal. Likely packaged with Malcolm subban for a top 6 scoring winger. Could be a left or right as eriksson can move back to left if they want. Bruins aren't a team looking to. Blow up and rebuild, but retool and and convert, still a highly elite core so I doubt they'd be looking for prospects or picks for lucic. Hall or Eberle likely who'd they'd open the discussion about. I believe they'd prefer Eberle. Either way I'd imagine Edmonton would be holding salary, which would be the reason for including Malcolm subban.

Lucic was great but he is yesterday's news. Find the next Lucic, not the last one.
