im glad they stopped the game, the players safety etc.... is the teams top priority & im glad it was postponed so the police could begin to get things under control. As for the riots that was way to uncalled for, I understand they were all upset over Freedies death but they tarnished & disrespected his memory by doing all that & burning down that retirement home & CVS. I just hope those officers are convicted & go to jail for a long time cause if not then these riots will reignite & be even more volitile & even more death & bloodshed will be spilled all over baltimore.

I live in Bolton Hill and work at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I had to stay over night Monday night and I am glad I did. They looted the whole shopping center. Belles Hardware, Rite Aid, the laundramat, and Sav-lot. According to the owner of Belles Hardware, not one Police was there all night. They come the next morning around 10 and he was confronted about it and he said that the whole city was under attack. I can't believe I live in Baltimore City. ( not for long) My take on Cops is that they spend too much time in Duncan Donuts and they are cowards. Alot of them are crooked and pick on innocent. I spent 6 months in Jail because a cop lied on me in court. I can go on and on. We have to clean house on the Police Department but it's a money issue for the city. How about all the businesses that were lost and burnt down. Who is this Mayor Blake. Why didn't she call the National Guard earlier. I got a good answer, she had too put her make up on so she could look good on camera. I have been living in Baltimore for almost 60 years and this City keeps getting worse and worse. For all the Baltimore City Police if it doesn't apply let it fly.

I would love to see this city get better.

All law enforcement officers should resign from this corrupt and racist city. If they do their jobs, they will be prosecuted for crimes they watch others commit, are encouraged to commit and get away with. Let the lawless burn down the city. They have been governed by racist democrats for over twenty years now and this is what they have accomplished in all that time.

I lay this at the feet of Obama who promised free phones, mortgages paid off and every thing else under the sun than didn't deliver (of course he couldn't deliver on his campaign promises for 08. It was impossible but it set the these people up for disappointment and anger).

Why should I care about a people whose only intent is to destroy any type of order, peace or civilization because they couldn't get thief own way? The what everything free, take no responsibility for their actions and have no respect for their country, community or selfs.

    Lawlessness encouraged and coddled.

Police officers should all resign and let Baltimore be the savage jungle the inhabitants and Mayor deserve and strive for.

I believe the Orioles, made the best decision. They shut it down, for the safety of all concerned. Who knows what would have happened if they didn't. The fans come by all means of transportation. I am sure they would have been leery of Parking their cars, in that atmosphere. I am sorry the blacks, don't have much, or no respect for our Policemen, but black, and white are on that force, accept them. They lay their life on the line every day for all of us. Don't let the Islamic influence you, as they want you to be their soldiers against your own country.

Reggie: The Baltimore 'Savages' often hide behind the badge...hence the protest & violent anger idiot.

@Doug...in reference to "They don't appreciate what they have. They complain about no jobs." No inner harbor tourist stuff was burned down & the places that were not really offering jobs but mostly inner city Korean business & an apartment building to be. SHUT down all of the games & Ravens, tourist etc...if that is what it takes to stop killing black people or beating them up in the name of white elite tourism & suburban middle class entitlement. Like one medical professional stated: I'd rather my car burn then my son be killed by police. So the hell with the game.

They did the right thing- there was no way to know what how many people would do or not do what or where. There was too much potential for something bad to happen given how volatile the city was at the time. If the game went on it could have been targeted. If the light rail had to be shut down that would have stranded people in a riot. Police could not afford to pull out officers from other areas to insure the safety of people at the stadium. That would have made it easier for something to happen elsewhere. Sad state of affairs, but it was for the best. You have to remember the rioters caused this so express your unhappiness to them.

That city is not worthy of even having a pro baseball team. They don't appreciate what they have. They complain about no jobs. Burning down businesses does not bring jobs. So sad.

I think it was a bad idea, because it was an early game. And most of people that was causing concern was kids. I think the Mayor panic.

Although it was surreal watching the game that way, at least we could watch a game! If they had gone on as planned, and something had happened , this would be a whole different conversation. I, for one, appreciated being able to have something clean to watch going on in Bmore , considering what was going on all around it.

There were no "savages" to be concerned about. The National Guard is all over the City and nobody cares about a bunch of fans going to a game. The Orioles pretty much signaled that whatever problems Baltimore is having, they have nothing to say about it or do with it. I plan to show them the same support they've shown to Baltimore.

They should have built a 1-block perimeter around the stadium, and only allowed people who had tickets to enter. Alternately, they could have closed the whole harbor area but made ticketholders present their tickets a few miles away, in a safe area where ferry boats could dock. Bringing the fans in by water would have made ingress and egress more defensible. As far as I know, the Baltimore Savages don't have pirate ships too.

No, I agree that the game should not begin at 7PM start, but I believe they should have changed the start time on Tuesday and Wednesday to 1PM start. The crowds could have vacated the city long before the curfew time. I do agree with the reassigning of the weekend series to Tampa Bay just as a precautionary.
