Do you think Maine should be a "right to work" state?

I have to agree with the majority it seems the only thing unions want to do is to put employers out of business. They are always looking for more money, or benefits. Unions used be for protecting employees from being treated by employers like one of there machines. They don't do that anymore. With no union employers can get rid of an employee just because they're not fast enough, even if they're a steady worker, and work as fast as they can. It's a catch 22 with the employee at stake. A new employee can be hired and
one that has be there 10yrs let go for almost any reason. That is what a Union used to be about.

Exactly Sean the only people unions help these days are the leadership. Where is the union in Millinocket an Bucksport they help put companies out of business than they move on never to be heard from again. Unions care about one thing ( DUES) I have worked on both sides of the fence They force companies to over hire having 10 men to do the work that 2 guys could do I see it every spring when the DOT washes down the bridges with a water hose I have counted as many as 15 men to do the job If I couldn't do it with 2 other guys I'd buy you lunch But having 15 dues paying men is better for the union than 2 I'm self- employed an get payed for what I do not for just showing up ( that's my opion an I'm sticking to it )

The soak it to the rich crowd needs to learn that businesses that provide good jobs are like rivers. They follow the path of least resistance. Maine has high corporate taxes and high energy costs and few transportation corridors to move the product. Not much can be done about the latter two that leaves only taxes and labor relations as options to encourage business.

Look at Tennesse and North Carolina. They are right to work and they have attracted major corporations. This is not the early 1900s where people are locked into factories. These corporations like toyota pay very well when not forced to do so by a union. I grew up in detroit to a UAW family. We watched the workforce in the factories get smaller and smaller as the UAW demanded more an more.
